00:29Oh, how Peter wished he could whistle!
00:38He saw a big boy playing with his dog.
00:41Whenever the boy whistled, the dog ran straight to him.
00:45Peter tried and tried to whistle, but he couldn't.
00:48So instead, he began to turn himself around.
00:52Around and around he whirled, faster and faster.
01:00When he stopped, everything turned down and up and up and down and around and around.
01:12Peter saw his dog Willie coming.
01:14Quick as a wink, he hid in an empty carton lying on the sidewalk.
01:19Wouldn't it be funny if I whistled, Peter thought.
01:23Willie would stop and look all around to see who it was.
01:27Peter tried again to whistle, but still he couldn't.
01:31So Willie just walked on.
01:36Peter got out of the carton and started home.
01:40On the way, he took some colored chalks out of his pocket and drew a long, long line.
01:49Right up to his door.
01:51He stood there and tried to whistle again.
01:54He blew till his cheeks were tired, but nothing happened.
02:01He went into his house and put on his father's old hat to make himself feel more grown up.
02:07He looked into the mirror to practice whistling.
02:10Still no whistle.
02:16When his mother saw what he was doing, Peter pretended he was his father.
02:20He said, I've come home early today, dear.
02:23Is Peter here?
02:25His mother answered, Why no, he's outside with Willie.
02:29Well, I'll go out and look for them then, said Peter.
02:36First, he walked along a crack in the sidewalk.
02:40Then he tried to run away from his shadow.
02:47He jumped off his shadow, but when he landed, they were together again.
02:52He came to the corner where the carton was, and who should he see but Willie?
03:00Peter scrambled under the carton.
03:03He blew and blew and blew.
03:05Suddenly, out came a real whistle.
03:09Willie stopped and looked around to see who it was.
03:16It's me, Peter shouted and stood up.
03:20Willie raced straight to him.
03:25Peter ran home to show his father and mother what he could do.
03:29They loved Peter's whistling.
03:31So did Willie.
03:36Peter's mother asked him and Willie to go on an errand to the grocery store.
03:41He whistled all the way there, and he whistled all the way home.
