00:34Harry was a white dog with black spots who liked everything, except getting a bath.
00:41So one day when he heard the water running in the tub, he took the scrubbing brush
00:50and buried it in the backyard.
00:56Then he ran away from home.
01:01He played where they were fixing the street and got very dirty.
01:10He played at the railroad and got even dirtier.
01:19He played tag with other dogs and became dirtier still.
01:31He slid down a coal chute and got the dirtiest of all.
01:35In fact, he changed from a white dog with black spots to a black dog with white spots.
01:45Although there were many other things to do,
01:48Harry began to wonder if his family thought that he had really run away.
01:54He felt tired and hungry too, so without stopping on the way, he ran back home.
02:04When Harry got to his house, he crawled through the fence and sat looking at the back door.
02:10One of the family looked out and said,
02:13There's a strange dog in the backyard. By the way, has anyone seen Harry?
02:19When Harry heard this, he tried very hard to show them he was Harry.
02:24He started to do all of his old clever tricks.
02:27He flip-flopped.
02:32And he flop-flipped.
02:34He rolled over and played dead.
02:40He danced and he sang.
02:43He did these tricks over and over again,
02:46but everyone shook their heads and said,
02:49Oh, no, it couldn't be Harry.
02:55Harry gave up and walked slowly toward the gate.
02:59But suddenly, he stopped.
03:05He turned around and looked at the door.
03:08Suddenly, he stopped.
03:13He ran back to a corner of the garden and started to dig furiously.
03:18Soon, he jumped away from the whole barking short happy yaps.
03:26He'd found the scrubbing brush.
03:28And carrying it in his mouth, he ran into the house.
03:33Up the stairs he dashed with the family following close behind.
03:41He jumped into the bathtub and sat up begging with the scrubbing brush in his mouth,
03:46a trick he certainly had never done before.
03:49This little doggy wants a bath, cried the little girl.
03:53And her father said, Why don't you and your brother give him one?
03:57Why don't you and your brother give him one?
04:03Harry's bath was the soapiest one he'd ever had.
04:06It worked like magic.
04:08As soon as the children started to scrub, they began shouting,
04:12Mommy, Daddy, look, look, come quick.
04:19It's Harry, it's Harry, it's Harry, they cried.
04:23Harry wagged his tail and was very, very happy.
04:26His family combed and brushed him lovingly.
04:29And he became once again a white dog with black spots.
04:37It was wonderful to be home.
04:39After dinner, Harry fell asleep in his favorite place,
04:43happily dreaming of how much fun it had been getting dirty.
04:47He slept so soundly, he didn't even feel the scrubbing brush he'd hidden under his pillow.
