Transcript
00:00The Department of Agriculture plans to approve the importation of 200,000 metric tons of refined white sugar.
00:08According to DA's Secretary Francisco T. Laurel Jr.,
00:12this will eliminate the shortage in the months of August and September,
00:16when it is expected that the supply of sugar will decrease.
00:20By importing, it is assured that the supply will be sufficient and the price of sugar will be stable.
00:27It is expected that a new sugar order will be issued in July,
00:31and the target is that it will be delivered to the country before the harvest season in October,
00:36so that the local producers will not be affected.
00:39The United Sugar Producers Federation is in agreement with this.
00:43An additional supply is needed,
00:45especially since 15% of the production of El Nino sugar is in Pinzala.
00:52By September, we should have an arrival of at least 200,000 tons.
00:56The current stocks will decrease by August-September.

01:07So we have to have gap sugar of at least 200,000 tons by September-October
01:15so that our milling season will continue.
01:18So that the traders will not get nervous.
