Malaysia will remain an open trading nation, including with the United States, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.  During his keynote speech at the 47th American Malaysian Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM) annual general meeting on Tuesday (June 25), the Prime Minister said the collaboration between Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) and New York-based firm Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) is crucial to the country. 00:00We made it very clear that Malaysia must remain a trading nation and open to investments.

00:14And therefore, the collaboration between MAHB and DIP to us is critical and we as a government

00:22will support and so is BlackRock's involvement in this country.

00:27I made it very clear in front of all Members of Parliament and I think that explains well

00:32our position vis-a-vis investments from overseas and in particular from the United States of

00:38America.

00:39I thought I deserved an applause for that.

00:49Possibly, most of you are not aware how sensitive and difficult and how the entire discourse

00:58has been so rancorous at the local level, particularly with the small by-election in

01:08Penang, that series of aspersions, castes and allegations about our decision.

01:19So I used the forum in Parliament to give the facts and to say that we as a country

01:25has benefited immensely from investments overseas.
