00:19forces arrested demonstrators in protest against the love bases.
00:28The government of Venezuela has strongly rejected the process of expropriation of the companies
00:35Ingo Petroleum Corporation, which continue to be carried out by the United States authorities.
00:46And the North Korean government received the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, for a
00:52state visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation alliances.
01:01Hello welcome to From the South, I am Irma Shelton from Telesur Studios in Havana, Cuba.
01:09We begin with the news, stay with us.
01:12In Argentina, the judge released 11 of the 16 people who remained in detention after
01:18security forces arbitrarily detained most of the 33 demonstrators who had come to Congress
01:26to protest against the law of Basel at Square State.
01:31Judge Maria Serpini's ruling came just after the relatives of the detainees, together with
01:38social, political and trade union organizations, demonstrated on Tuesday in Plaza de Mayo to
01:45demand the release of those who remain in custody.
01:50Twenty-eight people have already been released by Serpini, despite further Prosecutor Carlos
01:56Tornelli's intention to keep them under arrest under alleged fabricated charges.
02:04Three people still remain detained.
02:14Deputies of the Union for the Homeland in Argentina held the Minister of Security Patricia
02:21Burridge responsible for the use by police of irritant dusts against peaceful demonstrators
02:28over the law of Basel.
02:31The criminal complaint was filed Tuesday by the deputies who refuted Burridge's main
02:37argument that the demonstrators were black in the streets.
02:41According to the document, it was the security forces who had blockaded the streets under
02:47the minister's orders.
02:50On the other hand, the deputies announced that the events have already been reported
02:55to local, regional and international human rights agencies and organizations both from
03:02the OAS and the United Nations.
03:12The government of Argentina validated on Tuesday before the United Nations its historical claim
03:19for the sovereignty of the Maldivian South Sandwich and the surrounding maritime areas.
03:27It was Minister of Foreign Affairs Diana Mondino, the one who participated in a session
03:34of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization, where she left no room for doubt about the
03:42official position of the Argentine state regarding this enclave administered by the United Kingdom.
03:50Mondino declared that it has now been 191 years since the beginning of the illegal occupation
04:00of the islands by the United Kingdom.
04:03She also argumented that the past time has not weighed the meaning of the validity of
04:09their claim nor modified their conviction that this prolonged dispute should be resolved
04:15peacefully through bilateral negotiations between Argentina and the United Kingdom.
04:27The government of Venezuela has strongly rejected the process of expropriation of the company
04:33Citgo Petroleum Corporation, which continues to be carried out by the United States authorities
04:39under the pretext of a judicial process of forced sale of shares clearly contrary to
04:46the law.
04:48Through her ex-account, Venezuelan Vice President Desi RodrĂguez expressed her rejection of
04:54the theft of Citgo instrumentalized by the United States government.
04:59She added that Venezuela will not recognize any type of fraudulent transaction and that
05:06the people in the Red National Union will defend their patrimony and apply implacable
05:12justice to those who plot this plunder against the Republic.
05:25The government of Nicaragua joined the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in denouncing in a press
05:31statement issued on Tuesday the U.S. government's seizure of Citgo Petroleum Corporation.
05:39The statement, titled, Always not too janky filibuster, strongly expressed Managua's position
05:46when it said, We condemn once again this absurd outrage that reflects an invariable filibusterism
05:54behavior on the part of the United States that has done and continues to do so much
06:00damage to the world and to the human community.
06:06In this context, the former President of Colombia, Ernesto Samper, denounced on the social network
06:17X the attempts of international expropriation by the United States against the Venezuelan
06:23capital oil company Citgo.
06:26Samper emphasized that forcing elections to be held amid sanctions is a subtle but effective
06:33way to intervene in the right of voters to vote freely.
06:45Also the Chinese government rejected Tuesday the takeover of the Venezuelan subsidiary
06:51Citgo by the United States government and the extreme right.
06:55The Expo man of the People's Republic of China, Lin Shan, ratified that his country is opposed
07:02to the illegal sanctions imposed by the United States government against the Venezuelan people
07:08and demanded that Washington should not interfere in Venezuela's affairs.
07:14Lin Shan said that such actions go against international
07:21The Venezuelan government, through its foreign ministry, emphatically rejected on Tuesday
07:43the opinion of the U.S. Assistant Secretary for Western Hemisphere Affairs, Brian Nichols,
07:50on the electoral process in the country.
07:53Venezuela's foreign minister, Iván Gil, stated that Nichols continually seeks to offend
08:00the Venezuelan people by meddling in internal affairs that do not concern him.
08:07He also denounced Nichols' obsession to destabilize the electoral process in Venezuela
08:15and to support opposition sectors.
08:17The Venezuelan government reiterates its rejection of U.S. imperialist interference
08:23in its commitment to defense of sovereignty and democracy in the country.
08:36On Tuesday, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Tork, demanded Mexico
08:43to account for the political violence that took place in the recently concluded elections.
08:50The Mexican organization Data CĂvica elaborated, based on journalist notes collected between
08:58May 1 and June 2, 2024, a monitor that counted 137 events associated with the political criminal
09:09violence.
09:10Of these events, 27 target women and 96 target men.
09:15The report states that between September 2023 and June 2, 2024, 34 people running for public
09:25office were assassinated, while 98 others were assaulted, although they survived.
09:33According to this data, this process was more violent than the two previous ones, with the
09:39exception of the 2018 elections, as the closest precedent with closer tolls of murder and
09:47attack people.
09:55Mexican President Claudia Chamberlain called on the elected deputies and senators to return
10:03to the territory to continue working the priority reforms, and particularly to the
10:09judiciary power.
10:11This has as the main objective to work with the current legislator, the forums that will
10:18be held from June 26 until August, in order to approve, in September, the coordinator
10:25of Morena Senators Ricardo Monreal and the President of the Board of Directors in Chad
10:32Chamber Ana Lilia Rivera will explain that eight forums will be held, three of them in
10:38Mexico City.
10:39It is suspected that the Senate will approve an exhortation to the Chamber of Deputies to
10:46carry them out.

11:29Welcome back to Front Depth House.
11:44On Tuesday, the Palestinian Prisoners Society denounced the detention of more than 600
11:50Palestinian children by the Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank since
11:56October 7. In a statement, the organization informed that the minors adopted in Israeli
12:03occupation prisons are subjected to all kinds of punishment, being subjected to abuse,
12:09torture and medical crimes.
12:12The society also added that during the first days of the Muslim holiday, Eid al-Adha, the
12:19Zionist army detained a group of children east of Ramallah.
12:24The authority condemned the genocidal actions and Netanyahu's government against the
12:30Palestinian people and called on the international community to address the situation in the
12:36Gaza Strip.
12:43The Palestinian government denounced the alleged Israeli tactical pause in the war and
12:49raffized another lie by the Tel Aviv to impose a false narrative and prevent a temporary
12:57truce and the delivery of humanitarian aid.
13:01In this sense, the Palestinian authorities state that the alleged daily pause in military
13:07activities between 8 a.m.
13:09and 7 p.m.
13:10local time is false and added that the occupation forces have not ceased their operations
13:18among them the ongoing destruction of the Rafah crossing, one of the main entry points of
13:25humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip.
13:33Once again, thousands of Israelis took to the streets on the occupied Jerusalem to demand
13:40the immediate resignation of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
13:44Security forces brutally repressed protesters, arresting at least nine of them.
13:50Demonstrators surrounded the NSF venue and changed their slogan to demand Netanyahu's
13:56deposition for a call to overthrowing the tyrant.
14:01The protesters ratified that a request for early elections cannot be postponed and deemed
14:08as crucial the need to reach an agreement with the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas.
14:14The protests broke through the police barriers and headed towards the residence of the prime
14:20minister. But the security forces of the Zionist regime violently blocked the advance.
14:27On Tuesday, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian urged NATO to stop framing China
14:49for the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
14:52China did not cause and is not part of the Ukraine crisis and it has always been committed
14:58to promoting peace talks. China's goal and fair stance and constructive role have been
15:02widely recognized by the international community. We advise the relevant party to stop shifting
15:07blame and sowing discord, not add fuel to the fire and instigate confrontation, but
15:14rather do something practical for the political settlement of the crisis.
15:18In the United States, President Joe Biden announced two new executive actions that will
15:24allow thousands of immigrants who have been living in the country for at least a decade
15:30to obtain legal permanent residency so they can formally contribute to the U.S. economy.
15:37The first of these initiatives will allow people married to U.S. citizens to avail themselves
15:45of the remedy known as Parole in Place, which protects immigrants for deportation and allows
15:52them to obtain work permits if they have lived in the United States for at least 10 years.
15:59Through this route, undocumented immigrants could apply for residency and eventually citizenship.
16:08The White House explained in a press release that this action will protect approximately
16:14half a million spouses of U.S. citizens.
16:35The government of Brazil approved a timetable to reduce pollution and meet the air quality
16:42standards set by the World Health Organization.
16:46The resolution approved by the National Environmental Council, CONAMA, includes an investment of
16:52up to $30 million between 2025 and 2026 to create inventories, build monitoring stations,
17:01and implement actions to improve air quality.
17:05In this sense, the initiative foresees that air quality will be monitored by authorities
17:12and adapted to protect the health of the population and the environment in Brazil.
17:24The Venezuelan Bolivarian National Guard maintains an active deployment in national parks and
17:30monuments as part of the protection plans against criminal groups that practice illegal mining.
17:37Chief General Domenico Hernández Lárez detailed that the Army forces are also deployed in
17:44the Forest Hydraulic and Biosphere Reserve to maintain environmental security.
17:51He also reminds the population that it is prohibited within national parks to develop
17:57mining, hydrocarbon exploitation, agricultural crops in general, and forage exploitation.
18:05In this context, he affirmed that it is a citizen's duty to abide by the national laws
18:11or else the organizations that violate the law on national sovereignty will be dismantled.

19:15Welcome back to From the South.
19:17The North Korean government received the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin,
19:22for a state visit to strengthen bilateral cooperation alliances.
19:27The Russian president is expected to carry out an important high-level agenda
19:32together with his delegation during his stay in the nation where they will address issues
19:39of cooperation and strengthening of their commercial alliances.
19:44The Kremlin indicates that it values the willingness of its allies
19:49to strengthen strategic ties for the development of the peoples.
19:54It is suspected that the topics to be discussed will focus on the economy, energy, transport, agriculture, and security.
20:03President Vladimir Putin visited Pyongyang in 2000,
20:07and this would be his first state visit to North Korea under Kim Jong-un,
20:13with whom a leader meeting is suspected.
20:23On Wednesday, North Korean President Kim Jong-un called the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to his country
20:31and the development of bilateral relations as a great historic moment.
20:37The North Korean leader said Putin's visit to Pyongyang confirms the true state of the Russian-North Korean relations,
20:45which have entered a period of higher development,
20:49and at the same time is a great historical moment of the highest strategic importance.
20:55The North Korean leader said, adding that the relations between Russia and North Korea
21:01are entering a period of a new rate blooming that cannot be compared
21:07even with the period of the Korean-Soviet relations in the last century.
21:12The United States government and NATO criticized on Tuesday the visit of the Russian President Vladimir Putin to North Korea.
21:28United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken assured that the economy and military relationship between North Korea, China, and Russia
21:37are causing concern in the Western military bloc.
22:07For his part, the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, James Tottenberg,
22:19said that Putin's visit to North Korea confirms the need to address the security issue among NATO allies.
22:37The United States, like North Korea, but also China and Iran.
22:42And this also demonstrates that our security is not regional, it's global.
22:48What happens in Europe matters for Asia, and what happens in Asia matters for us.
22:53And this is clearly demonstrated in Ukraine, where Iran, North Korea, China are propping up,
23:01fueling Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine.
23:06So this idea that we can divide security into regional theaters doesn't work anymore.
23:12Everything is intertwined, and therefore we need to address these challenges together.
23:21In other topic, Malaysian Prime Minister Dato' Serianwar Bin Ibrahim
23:26confirmed that the official process of his country's ascension to BRICS group,
23:32Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, will begin shortly.
23:37The Malaysian government is basing its decision on the fact that the Strait of Malacca
23:44is an important transport route connecting the south of the Eastern Pacific Ocean with the Bay of Bengal,
23:52where India, Bangladesh, and Thailand, among others, have their shores.
23:57The BRICS bloc originates with the formation of the countries that define its agronyms,
24:04Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.
24:08However, as of January 1, 2024, Iran, Egypt, Ethiopia, Argentina, Saudi Arabia,
24:16and the United Arab Emirates are part of the bloc.
24:22Like Malaysia, Thailand has also expressed its intention to join the organization.
24:33And we have come to the end of this news brief.
