00:00One of my favorite summer destinations here in the Philippines is La Union so we're taking
00:04the 4 Territory to the Surfing Capital of the North.
00:18More than the sand, the surf, and the vibes, one of the biggest attractions for La Union
00:23is its proximity to Metro Manila.
00:25So we took the 4 Territory on a quick drive to the Surfing Capital of the North for a
00:30quick weekend out of town.
00:32While the 5-6 hour drive to San Juan La Union may seem daunting, it was made much easier
00:37in the comfort of the 4 Territory, including the cool interiors, with seat coolers, and
00:43the adaptive cruise control for the long drive down duplex.
00:46Also stopovers, that helps too.
00:50Speaking of, before we get to San Juan, we hit our first stopover for lunch.
00:55Before we get to the resort we're staying in, we're having a quick lunch break here
00:58at Lakay Ago.
01:01Being here in Lakay Ago really feels like you're in another world.
01:05This colorful destination has a lot of photogenic locations to start our trip off.
01:11This spot has what you need for a good stopover.
01:13It's picturesque, it has fresh air, and really good food.
01:19And the cool factor is not just skin deep.
01:22The restaurant is up a steep hill from their kitchen so food is delivered via pulley system.
01:29Speaking of, what would lunch stop be without the lunch?
01:34We had their signature pancit, which is delicious and affordable, especially for a bigger group.
01:44From Lakay Ago, it was a quick ride to Fat Wave Surf Resort, a boutique resort that served
01:53as our home base for the trip.
02:00We spent the afternoon there, unwinding before heading out for dinner.
02:09So I've heard of this nice little restaurant just 3 minutes away from Fat Wave where we're
02:13going to have our dinner.
02:14So that's where we're heading right now.
02:27So located here within Curbside Villa is Kuro Restaurant where we're having our dinner tonight.
02:34Kuro Restaurant is a high-end resto where you feast with your eyes just as much as your palate.
02:41The dishes we had were all hits and included a salad, appetizers, pasta, and the main dish,
02:50ribeye steak.
02:51If you want to know more about this, we do have a full video already up on our channel
02:55where we go more in-depth into the food we ate.
02:58Go check that out after watching this video.
03:00Finally, to cap off the night, we headed to Tiny Bar, which was walking distance from
03:05Fat Wave.
03:06It's a quaint little bar where the vibe is just as good as the drinks.
03:10As per its namesake, the location is not too large.
03:13This allows for a more intimate evening which includes good conversations with friends over
03:17drinks expertly crafted and created by their bartender.
03:32All of this equates to a good evening and a good way to end the long day.
03:38The next morning, we were up early for one of La Union's special local activities.
03:49Red Clay Pagdamilian offers different kinds of classes all to do with pottery.
03:56For us, we tried the one-hour hands-on pottery lesson where a guide will take us through
04:00coming up with our own pottery creation.
04:04It was both a fun and relaxing activity to start our morning.
04:08Pottery experts pay no mind to my lack of skills, but this is something that you can
04:12do solo or as a group.
04:17So that was the pottery experience here at Red Clay Pagdamilian.
04:19We have to let it rest for a bit so we're gonna come back tomorrow for the final product.
04:25At this point, it was getting close to noon so we set out to look for lunch, which we
04:29found at Merienda.
04:31Situated along the smaller streets, Merienda offers a cozy, quieter vibe for those who
04:36want a little bit of peace away from the bustle of the main popular areas.
04:41Plus you get the perfect accompaniment of home-cooked food, in our case, the special
04:47kare-kare, adobo flakes, and caldereta.
04:57And how can we forget dessert?
05:01Definitely a hidden gem that I'd like to return to myself.
05:04Finally to cap off our trip, we visited a non-profit organization for the second LU
05:08trip in a row, Project Korma.
05:11One of my favorite things to do here in La Union, whenever I'm here in La Union, is to
05:17visit Korma, which is a sea turtle conservation group.
05:21Once in a while they have turtle hatchings, they have turtle releases, and they post on
05:25social media, it's open to the public, and I like visiting them whenever I'm here.
05:29That's what we're doing right now, over sunset.
05:31Let's see what they have.
05:33While we were hoping to catch the turtle hatching, unfortunately they were not in season, but
05:37we did release a turtle that they've been nursing.
05:44We also had an in-depth conversation with the managing director, Carlos Tamayo.
05:49And if you're interested to hear more about Project Korma, we have a video coming up about
05:53it here on the spot.ph channel.
05:55Subscribe so you don't miss it.
05:58With all of our planned activities finished, all that was left to do is enjoy our homestay
06:03at Fat Waves Surf Resort.
06:08Their many different food choices, and their cozy amenities and rooms.
06:15Overall, another amazing trip in the books, made possible and more comfortable by the
06:20smooth drive of the 4 Territory.
06:25And before we enjoy the long drive back to Manila, there was one last stop we had to make.
06:33So before we head back to Manila, we're here at Red Clay Party to pick up what we made
06:36yesterday.
06:37Not perfect, but you know.
