00:03 >> On this vote, the yeas are 216, the nays are 207.
00:08 The resolution is adopted.
00:09 Without objection, the motion to reconsider is laid on the table.
00:13 [BLANK_AUDIO]
00:15 >> It's time for Merrick Garland to stop stonewalling and
00:18 release the Biden tapes.
00:20 >> We think we're entitled to, we don't think, we know we're entitled to all
00:24 the evidence, and that includes the best evidence, which is this audio tape.
00:28 That's why we sent the subpoena.
00:30 The Attorney General's being clear, he's not gonna give that information to us.
00:33 So that's why we have the contempt resolution.
00:37 We assume this is gonna wind up in court, but we think our case is strong and
00:40 we think that we will prevail.
00:41 >> He is refusing to comply with a lawful subpoena, and
00:46 that's a problem under Article 1.
00:48 We have to defend the Constitution.
00:49 We have to defend the authority of Congress.
00:51 We can't allow the Department of Justice and
00:54 Executive Branch Agency to hide information from Congress.
00:57 We have important oversight responsibilities, and
01:01 that is what is being pursued here.
01:02 We're gonna utilize every tool that we have in our arsenal because we're required
01:06 to do so under the Constitution, and I think that's a part of it.
01:09 And in pursuit of that, I do think the contempt of Merrick Garland will
01:14 pass on the floor, and we're anxious to have that happen.
