00:00The National Health Workforce System, which is part of the Medium-Term Plan for 2023-2028, has been targeted by the Health Department.

00:15The Department of Health is facing a big challenge when it comes to the healthcare workers in the country,
00:22such as low wages and working in other countries.
00:25This is part of the priority of the Ministry of Health in their 8-Point Action Agenda.
00:46According to Pizarra, the number of nurses, midwives, and doctors in the country is very low.
00:51Because of this, there is a chance that a healthcare worker will have a lot of work
00:55that will affect the implementation of the program of the Ministry of Health, especially in the grassroots.
01:00We see this as a major roadblock and that is why it is a priority of this.
01:04Because we can have all of these plans, even budget, but if we don't have the people who will be implementing this,
01:11we will really have a hard time.
01:13To address this, part of the Medium-Term Plan for 2023-2028 is the strengthening of the National Health Workforce System,
01:21which includes the deployment of doctors to the barrio.
01:24While there is a study being done when it comes to talking about benefits.
01:28How can we ensure that the amount of work that a barrio worker receives is sufficient for his salary?
01:41So there are evaluation studies and initiatives to the department to ensure that the policies that we will follow are evidence-informed.
01:48This will help in pushing for a higher salary for healthcare workers.
01:54They hope that from now on, there will be plans or policies for a change that will be felt by healthcare workers.
