00:00Israel and Hamas have both committed war crimes.
00:03That's the conclusion from a United Nations Commission report investigating the 7th of
00:08October attack and the early days of the war in Gaza.
00:12In the report based on victim testimony and several other sources, the body details how
00:17Hamas and six other Palestinian armed groups killed and tortured people during the assault
00:22on Israel.
00:23More than 1,200 people died, while 250 were taken hostage.
00:29The commission lays out cases of sexual violence, arguing that women's bodies were used as victory
00:34trophies by male perpetrators.
00:37It's allegations that Hamas denies.
00:41The report was also damning for Israel.
00:44In the conflict that has followed, the commission accuses the Jewish state of deliberately using
00:48heavy weaponry with large destructive capabilities in densely populated areas.
00:54Along with those alleged crimes, it was also found that Israel is guilty of extermination,
00:59starvation, sexual violence and the forcible transfer of the population in Gaza.
01:05Israel has rejected the findings, accusing the UN Commission of systematic anti-Israeli
01:09discrimination.
01:11While the report has no legal weight, it is likely to be used by the International Court
01:15of Justice.
01:17It comes a month after the ICJ announced it was seeking arrest warrants for several top
01:21Hamas and Israeli leaders on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
01:27Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is among those accused.
