Ederson and Ortega situation as mainstay keeper’ could be on way out of the club

00:08one that can play out the back and almost be used as a midfielder at times. We saw him

00:12so high at the pitch in a number of games. Is it a case of him maybe moving on, as Joe

00:20Hart did at the back end of his City career? Obviously a fantastic, go down as a City legend

00:24really, with the sort of achievements. But Ortega was fantastic at the back end of last

00:30season.

00:31Yeah, it's a really interesting dynamic. You mentioned Joe Hart there. Joe Hart was moved

00:36on because Pep Guardiola didn't see him as a player who he felt could fit into his system.

00:41That is certainly not the case with Ederson, a player that Guardiola really has a lot of

00:46faith in, a lot of trust in, has spoken so highly about him, even in the last couple

00:51of weeks of the season. He went out of his way before the FA Cup final, for instance,

00:54to reference the impact that he's had across this season. But there is interest from Saudi

01:03Arabia. I mean, it's reported to be believed the player is open to moving on. Manchester

01:09City, their policy is always that if they receive a fair offer and that they feel that

01:15the player wants to move, they wouldn't stand in his way. So I think that would be the case

01:18for Ederson or really any player in the City squad. But obviously it's a difficult one

01:25because first choice goalkeeper is always a difficult position to change. And an interesting

01:30aspect of this is you mentioned Stefan Ortega because he, I mean, if you asked me a year

01:34ago, I wouldn't have been too sure on him, but I think he's had a really good season.

01:37The season that's just passed has become a very reliable number two goalkeeper and has

01:43actually played 20 matches last season, which is quite remarkable for a number two goalkeeper.
