Hi, my name's Stephen Brown, I own and operate Noble Artificial Insemination Training at
00:06
Boral Creek.
00:07
We've got a purposely built training facility, we've been going for five years, we're getting
00:11
students or farmers coming from all parts of Australia, even get veterinarians to come
00:17
and do their artificial insemination course here.
00:20
We also run pregnancy testing courses, I'm very passionate and take great pride in passing
00:26
these skills on.
00:28
Today we've got some AgSkills students come from the Mening Valley, they've come here
00:33
to our facility and basically I'm just giving them a bit of an introduction to artificial
00:38
insemination.
00:39
So we've been into the classroom this morning, we went through the advantages and disadvantages
00:43
of artificial insemination, we went through the semen thawing.
00:47
Give it a gentle shake and into our water, thawing water, put your canister back.
00:53
Okay, so we've got to leave that there for how long?
00:58
Forty-five seconds.
00:59
Forty-five seconds.
01:00
Loading the pipettes.
01:01
We're going to thaw it out in the correct temperature water and we've got to load it
01:05
up into these AI pipettes and we've got to go on AI cow.
01:09
And then they had a go with the pipette of passing the pipettes through the cervix into
01:14
the body of the uterus.
01:16
And then we got some cows in and they went in there searching and trying to find a cervix.
01:21
Did that little practical session for half an hour and then I showed them how to actually
01:25
artificially inseminate a cow.
01:51
And then hopefully later on we'll do a demonstration of some preg testing using the ultrasound
01:58
and that should basically do the day.
02:00
Yeah, they've been great students, thoroughly enjoyed it.
02:03
Hi, I'm Walker from Gloucester High School.
02:05
Today we're here at Noble Artificial Insemination where Steve Brown has been teaching us roughly
02:10
how to AI in a short time with Katie and a bit of preg testing this afternoon.
02:15
I've enjoyed most today that we've actually been able to do a bit of hands-on stuff and
02:19
be able to see and he can explain it so we know what we're doing and get a bit ahead.
02:24
I joined AgSkillz program as, I mean, I'm a kid that likes agriculture and there's an
02:29
opportunity within school, so you weren't actually away from school, it's within school.
02:33
And we get to do more than on a beef farm.
02:36
Yeah, I'd like to be a stock and station agent within the agricultural industry.
02:39
So it's been a fantastic day, all the kids have had a fantastic time.
02:43
They've learnt a heap about artificial insemination, about the reproductive system of the cow.
02:48
And they've all taken away a huge amount of knowledge, which is absolutely fantastic.
