Macron, Biden to discuss Ukraine aid, ceasefire efforts in Gaza

00:00 The welcome ceremony for President Joe Biden is due to start very soon.

00:04 Now you can see behind me by the Arc de Triomphe we have some representatives of the French National

00:11 Guard, the Air Army and the Navy. They are stationed at the arch. They will be waiting

00:18 for President Joe Biden to make his way with President Macron up the Champs-Elysées to the

00:23 Arc de Triomphe. The President will then go to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier where he will light

00:31 the flame of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and place a wreath in memory of all the French and

00:37 Allied servicemen who lost their lives in the war. And as he does that we have the orchestra playing

00:43 both the French and the US national anthems. So a very grandiose ceremony about to begin.

00:50 Now of course there will be an aerial parade and they will observe a minute's silence and the

00:56 ceremony will wrap up with the signing of the commemorative book and with President Joe Biden

01:02 saluting all the military officials and veterans. Now in the stores we have several hundred guests

01:08 this morning. We saw them all arriving. They are members of the Navy, the Army, old veterans and as

01:14 well high-profile politicians. Now after the ceremony which is marking the 80th anniversary

01:22 of the D-Day landings, the two leaders will head to the Elysées where they will start an afternoon

01:27 of official talks. Their agenda is rather packed. They are set to discuss first of all

01:34 long-term aid to Ukraine as well as efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza but among other topics of course

01:42 trade practices between the two countries, AI, climate change and all of this in the wider

01:49 context of the upcoming US elections and the upcoming European parliamentary elections. So

01:55 very important day today for President Joe Biden and President Macron in showing the strengthening

02:01 of their bilateral cooperation.
