00:05few days before the general election.

00:08For three years, they have been denouncing Germany's arms supplies and support for Ukraine.

00:17The announcement of peace talks between Moscow and Washington is a ray of hope for these

00:22activists.

00:23Yes, I think the tide has finally turned for the better.

00:29It seems obvious to me that the first thing to do is to stop arms deliveries in order

00:32to facilitate talks.

00:35Over the past three years, Germany has provided aid worth €44 billion to Ukraine. It has

00:42also taken in over a million refugees. It's a subject that has barely come up during the

00:47election campaign, which worries these two students. Maria and Yelizaveta, who is originally

00:53from Odessa, fear that Ukraine will be abandoned to its fate.

00:58I fear that some promises will not be kept, that some commitments have only been announced

01:05to somehow win certain votes, and that in the end, no concrete action will follow.

01:14Not only in the European Union, but also in the world, Germany is a major economy and

01:19one of the main political players. Everything that is said in Germany, the elections and

01:25what will be decided afterwards, is followed very closely by others.

01:32Both the far right and the far left are campaigning against arms supplies, and almost half of

01:37Germans are now opposed to them. In Parliament, the Greens are among the strongest supporters

01:42of Ukraine. But this MP is under no illusions. He doubts Berlin will increase its military

01:47aid.

01:49Unfortunately, I expect the next federal government to continue its lukewarm support. But I still

01:57hope that we will all understand that peace with Russia and Putin can only be achieved

02:03if we confront him forcefully and clearly.

02:08Germany has pledged to support Ukraine for as long as necessary, but the extent of this

02:12support will depend above all on the composition of the next government.
