Alden Richards Is the Quintessential Leading Man, and His Preview May 2024 Cover Shoot Is Proof. Go behind the scenes of our May 2024 cover shoot in this exclusive Preview video.

00:00Alden is very into fitness, that's why it was perfect to depict him in a t-shirt.

00:13Instead of going with the usual sportswear route, we decided to look into vintage sports

00:20ads and editorials.

00:22So the whole shoot is very nostalgic and eclectic.

00:27A lot of mixed references.

00:30So even for the video, it's very fast-paced.

00:33A lot of zoom-ins and fast cuts.

00:37It's based on vintage commercials and archival clips of the Olympics and sports events.

00:44Our photographer for this shoot is Carl King Aguña.

00:47He's a photographer based in London, but for now he's staying in the Philippines.

00:52His photos are very moody and raw, and it's very dynamic.

00:56You can really see the movements of the subject that he shoots.

01:01He's really perfect for the shoot because a lot of his work is based on past magazine

01:06editorials and fashion shoots.

01:10So working with Alden was relatively a breeze.

01:13It was a really hot day, but Alden was a real trooper because he was very willing to put

01:18on any kind of look that we gave him.

01:21He was really receptive to instructions, and he really embodied each attitude assigned

01:26to each layout.

01:27We went for something more of an athleisure look for Alden.

01:31So the first layout was indoors where he was wearing a full track suit from Wills Bonner,

01:36and we matched it with the new SL72s from Adidas in an electric blue color.

01:41So for the outside athleisure layout, Alden wore a green pullover from Wills Bonner, track

01:47pants from Adidas, and a pair of brown sneakers from Adidas as well.

01:52For the last layout, we went for a more casual vibe, and Alden wore a full look from Mason

01:57Margiela.

01:58So we layered a distressed denim shirt over a striped button-down paired with black cotton

02:04shorts.

02:05And of course, you can't miss the instantly recognizable tabby loafers that Alden wore

02:11so well.

02:13So the entire nation fell in love with Alden Richards back in 2015 when he was one half

02:17of the massively successful love team, Aldub.

02:20And to this day, people still can't help but swoon over him.

02:23He has all the traits and qualities you look for in a textbook leading man.

02:26He's tall, he has, you know, obviously he has the good looks, he has a pair of dimples

02:31that has made the entire nation swoon over him for the past few years.

02:35But beyond what you see on the facade of Alden Richards, he's a really nice guy.

02:40He's really charming.

02:41He talks to you in a way that you feel like you've known each other for a long time.

02:45And I think that's really one of the things that gave him the longevity he has today.

02:49He's really someone that knows the business, knows what he's doing, and knows that he's

02:54here to make people happy.

02:56And in this business, that can really take you far, and as you see, he's gone really

02:59far in the race that he's been running throughout his whole career.

03:03Call it fan service if you want, but Alden really knows what he's doing in this line

03:07of work.

03:08As an actor, he knows that his audiences look for certain things from him.

03:12They want to see him in certain characters, in certain stories, and, you know, he does

03:17this while still balancing his passion for the craft.

03:21He does his job, but he also knows that he loves what he does and that he's really honing

03:26acting and is focusing himself on being the best actor he can be.

03:31I think that's why he's successful in the way that he is.

03:34He has so many endorsements, he's literally everywhere.

03:37And we're glad that for this month's cover on Preview, he's really showing us that he's

03:41the optimal leading man, not just on screen, but also in real life.
