00:00Hola OG! I'm Ludeth Mendoza and this is my husband Ray. We are in Calatagan, Batangas.
00:07Welcome to our happy retirement home.
00:19Here in Casa Mendoza, we have three houses. The guest house, the tree house and the main house.
00:26Now let's check on the tree house.
00:31This tree house was built as requested by my youngest daughter when she was 12 years old.
00:36So she brought this together with her friends and now it's here.
00:40The branch of the tree has grown now.
00:43And right now, my other children bring this to relax and also to look at the view around.
00:52So Casa Mendoza is really more of my husband's dream or vision.
00:59This is what he wished to be our retirement home.
01:04Ray and I are not the same type of dream house.
01:08He wants a small house but a big property.
01:12So this is the property we got.
01:20Let's check on the guest house.
01:24Welcome to our guest house.
01:26As you can see, this house was built using antique woods from old houses of Laguna.
01:33Including this grill that according to my contractor was from Hispanic era.
01:39Come on, let's get inside.
01:44Inside the guest room are two beds, single beds for guests.
01:49And this is about 15 square meters.
01:52And as you can see, this is the only house in Casa Mendoza that has aircon as requested by my grandchild.
01:58And from the window, you can view the garden and almost the whole Casa Mendoza.
02:06I always dream of an old style house where I grew up in San Mateo Rizal.
02:11A quite large moving space where I can do some planting and taking care of some pets.
02:17And getting my hands dirty as well.
02:23From this spot, you can see the whole Casa Mendoza which is around 2,000 square meters.
02:33We are now in the pool area.
02:35So this is the project and idea of my wife.
02:38And we cannot incorporate the antique design here in the pool.
02:41So as you can see, the design of the pool is quite modern.
02:46And we have here two cabanas where you can laze around after swimming or stargaze at night.
02:57So you notice that the poolside area has become modern.
03:02Because maybe I was in a hurry with the style of the swimming pool.
03:07And we do not know how to make the swimming pool look antique.
03:11So it became like this, a bit modern.
03:14So we added the cabana that is suitable.
03:18That is also old style.
03:20So it became a little mixture of modern and antique when it comes to that area.
03:32So this is our house.
03:34This is the first house that we built here in Casa Mendoza.
03:37We decided to put it here when the typhoon destroyed it.
03:42Right now, we are just using it as a storage for our things.
03:51We got this idea from Antigong Kahoy, a company that is really into building antique houses.
03:59I am happy to look at the old houses.
04:02Maybe it's my past life, maybe I was the first one.
04:06So we wanted two old style, antique style houses.
04:11Mostly, we try to bring in materials that are antique, old style.
04:18Giving that arrow of antiquity in our place.
04:27So we are here at the Casibu of Casa Mendoza.
04:31Where we always have our meals.
04:34And this is where we gather, especially when we have guests and family occasions.
04:40Oh, you're busy on Facebook.
04:42Why don't you give them a tour?
04:48We didn't have any choices where to retire.
04:51But when the opportunity to get this property came,
04:56and we liked it because of the beach,
04:59and there were not many people,
05:02this is what we bought.
05:04And in 2016, when we got this, it was still cheap.
05:09We spent about 7 million in this place.
05:14Including the lot and all the improvements that we introduced in the place.
05:22So we are here at the main house.
05:25Let's go inside.
05:29The materials of the main house is the same as the materials of the guest house.
05:34Which are all recovered woods.
05:37Old woods from the houses in Laguna.
05:40Like this one, we have old furniture here on the veranda.
05:44So let's go inside.
05:48We are now inside our house.
05:51It's just small.
05:52So we have a mini kitchen here.
05:55And there's a mini ref.
05:57And you can see here, we have an old style banggirahan.
06:01It was called banggirahan the other day.
06:03And I have a cup.
06:05Actually, my grandmother called it losa.
06:08My mother-in-law called it sartin.
06:14So this is the living room.
06:15We have an old antique ambassador living room set here.
06:20We also have a mini altar.
06:22And if you notice our capiz chandelier,
06:26it matches the old windows that are also capiz.
06:34Choose your retirement home based on your lifestyle
06:38and what your husband will enjoy.
06:41We chose this because this is what Raiden likes.
06:44Although I like it more modern.
06:46But Raige, he really wanted a provincial setting.
06:51If you can find a place where you can feel that you will have peace
06:56and tranquility in that place, go for it.
07:00Go for it.
07:02And it doesn't have to be so grand.
07:08Let's go to one of the rooms here in the main house.
07:12This is the room where our children stay whenever they are here in casa.
07:19So it has a bank bed made of old woods.
07:26This is the master's bedroom.
07:28So we have here the old antique four posters bed.
07:33This is what I said I dreamed of having.
07:35And my dream came true because it's really old.
07:38If you notice, the materials used for this four poster bed are really old.
07:45And also the windows that are capiz are very old materials.
07:51This is the restroom.
07:53And there is also another door so that the other room has access.
07:59So that ends our tour of Casa Mendoza.
08:03I hope you enjoyed going around here.
08:06Thank you very much for watching.
08:08Thank you very much, OG.
08:10Bye!
