Data shows the average family of four is now worse off by £5k per year compared with before the cost of living crisis. What would you do with an extra five thousand pounds per year to spend?

00:00 I think I'm like reasonably well off. I definitely have felt the cost of living crisis.

00:04 I'm not gonna lie. I probably put it towards buying a house.

00:06 That's something I'm like single guy, so I'm like fairly middle class, not that I like the term,

00:11 but there's no way I can afford a property.

00:13 At least half are probably going to savings to prepare for the future,

00:15 especially building a new life up here in Leeds.

00:17 I think some of it I'd like to be able to go away with my nan,

00:21 because she's always saying she wants to go back to Malta where she's from.

00:23 I'm owing quite a lot of money on the gas.

00:27 It's going into thousands and people are struggling. People do go to food banks.

00:32 I think for me it would be cars and car insurance.

00:36 It's become so expensive now to buy a car and to get reinsured on your car.

00:42 It would be good to have the 5,000 extra, but the problem is, like she said,

00:46 everything's just too expensive now. Everything's getting ridiculous.

00:50 And even if we had that money back, I don't think it would last us in the same way

00:55 way that it would have previously. So I just live life.
