Students in the French stream at Telopea Park School learning the importance of teaching children good handwriting skills and the link with spelling, grammar and memory
Transcript
00:00I'm using the skills they already practiced in Kedankarten and I'll just reinforce what
00:14they did before by showing the gesture and also reducing step by step their place, the
00:28lines, the space between the lines so that they can improve their fine motor skills and
00:35practice a bit more.
00:38First I will look at the hand they are using because of course left handed children are
00:45a bit more challenged because the way you write letters is sometimes difficult for them
00:54to adapt but another thing I'm also checking is the way they are under the pencil of course.
01:06Real pleasure actually to teach and you can tell by their dedication to do their best.
01:14If they don't manage to do the letters properly, I still have different tools like sand or
01:28play dough etc. so that they can have the sense of the letters and of course you can
01:37see that on our walls we have some models as well so we are practicing not only here
01:46at school, we are practicing also at home with their parents because we bring some models
01:53we can practice as well.
01:54What are your favourite letters to write?
01:55C because my name starts with C.
02:01I also like doing Y.
02:04Yeah Y is fine.
02:07And why do you like Y?
02:09I like it because it has different actions in it.
