00:00 Anglevale resident Peter Dunn has spent years pleading for better water infrastructure.
00:08 His property isn't connected to main sewerage and the road outside his home floods as there's
00:13 no stormwater drainage.
00:15 It's extremely frustrating and you can see it all going on around you and nothing happens
00:21 and you're paying rates and taxes.
00:24 It's a problem across Anglevale, a rapidly growing outer northern suburb. About 500 new
00:30 households in the area currently rely on trucks to remove sewerage on an almost daily basis.
00:37 Developments were being established, were being sold and being lived in before trunk
00:43 lines were able to be connected.
00:45 That is a really third grade outcome for people here in the northern suburbs. It also doesn't
00:52 help you sell houses either.
00:54 About 1,400 additional new homes are planned for Anglevale. The SA Government will spend
01:00 $59 million to upgrade water and sewerage infrastructure to ensure those houses are
01:06 built.
01:07 This is absolutely an enabler for development. It is absolutely part of the solution to the
01:12 housing crisis.
01:13 The funds for the services are required now and we really need to start work now.
01:18 It's not just Anglevale where water infrastructure upgrades are needed. SA Water wants to spend
01:24 more than $360 million on capital works to handle growth across Adelaide's north. That
01:31 could see household water bills increase if the plan's approved.
01:35 If there's some consolation to paying a water bill, it's knowing that we are making the
01:40 investments to lower the price of housing.
01:44 The Government says it will announce more water infrastructure projects next month.
