00:00 Well, what we have seen recently is a fracturing.
00:04 More and more young people particularly, not exclusively, but particularly,
00:10 live in their lives in bubbles, isolated from their peers,
00:13 mixing only with people from similar circles to their own.
00:16 And what we want to do is find a way of bringing people together.
00:20 It's a way of, you know, binding us as a nation, as a society,
00:26 investing in those young people and addressing this worrying trend towards fragmentation.
00:31 How much of it will be volunteering? How much of it will be people asked to be served in the military?
00:36 Well, there will be a military element.
00:38 Around 30,000 people per year will be in the military element of it.
00:42 That will be competitive and that element will be voluntary.
00:46 So no one will be compelled to do the military bit.
00:49 We will of course say everyone has to take part.
00:51 We don't want this to be the preserve of one section of society.
00:55 to take part in it, but no one will be compelled to do the military bit of the service.
