00:00 I'm here at Richmond Avenue at Auburn in Sydney's West.
00:06 Police were called here around 7.30 last night after reports of an incident occurring at
00:10 the top rear unit just behind me in the complex behind me.
00:16 A 50-year-old man was found with head injuries and treated by paramedics but unfortunately
00:21 died at the scene.
00:23 He is yet to be formally identified, however I have been speaking to neighbours here this
00:28 morning who have told me that the victim was a quiet, friendly man who lived by himself.
00:35 Last night was really sad.
00:41 It was my intimate friends but it was such a nice place.
00:47 Doesn't deserve this.
00:48 Doesn't deserve this.
00:49 I don't know if he had any family or anything.
00:53 I don't know how they're going to get in contact with his mum and parents because I've never
00:56 seen him with any family.
00:59 No one.
01:00 An understandably emotional scene for residents here this morning.
01:04 A 32-year-old man was arrested nearby on South Parade shortly after police got here last
01:10 night.
01:11 He was taken to Auburn Police Station and questioned overnight and by 7 o'clock was
01:16 issued with a murder charge.
01:19 He is expected to front Burwood local court this morning where we could learn more of
01:23 what happened.
01:25 Forensic officers have been moving in and out of the unit block behind me all morning
01:29 but within the last hour they left with over a dozen brown paper bags of what's believed
01:34 to be carrying evidence.
01:35 It is understood that the two men involved were in a relationship so as investigations
01:41 continue it will be treated as a domestic violence related incident.
