00:06 It's good that the cleanliness is already prepared in some places,

00:09 like the estuaries and canals, to avoid flooding.

00:17 Susan, this past day, some rains that were experienced in Metro Manila,

00:28 so that some LGUs can be safe,

00:32 the opportunity to clean canals and estuaries was not missed,

00:36 just like in Marikina Heights.

00:39 That's the news here in Marikina City.

00:41 As a preparation for the upcoming rainy season,

00:45 the cleaning of canals and estuaries in Metro Manila is already in progress.

00:49 Just like the length of this creek in Marikina City,

00:52 where the water level is often rising whenever there is a heavy rain.

00:56 They clean and collect the garbage manually,

00:59 like plastic, which is rolled up and it's possible to fall down

01:02 when they are cleaning canals and estuaries.

01:05 They start by putting a trash trap

01:08 so that the garbage can be easily collected.

01:10 At first glance, this creek looks clean,

01:13 but when the estuaries are flooded,

01:16 they still collect a lot of garbage.

01:18 Because if we don't catch it,

01:20 it will be the cause of rising water levels in our river.

01:26 This is what we are avoiding

01:28 so that the garbage that they throw will not be a problem.

01:33 The estuaries workers are happy with the work and responsibility they are assigned

01:38 because it will help their community a lot, especially during the rainy season.

01:45 the garbage is not being collected that fast.

01:49 We are cleaning it so that there will be no flood.

01:53 Every day, they collect 20 to 30 bags of garbage.

01:59 Meanwhile, the dredging activity in Marikina River continues
