00:00 Here we have the Tanagia d'Ane or Dana octopus squid.
00:04 We captured this footage just north of the Samoan Passage in the South Pacific
00:08 at 1026 metres depth a few days ago.
00:12 In the slowed down footage you can now clearly see the large photophores in the tips of its
00:16 two arms that produce bioluminescence. Most importantly
00:20 these are the largest known photophores in the natural world and it's great to have been able
00:24 to capture this in two points of view as it interacts with the lander.
00:28 We have also estimated that the squid is approximately 75 centimetres
00:32 in length. We're so incredibly excited to have been able to capture a video of this squid.
