00:00 Hi there, warm sunny spells for many of us this weekend.
00:04 Showers for some and some areas of cloud to talk about as well.
00:09 Higher pressure to the west, lower pressure to the east, in between very few isobars on
00:14 the map, that means light winds.
00:16 But this weather front is just about influencing things first thing in the far south east.
00:21 Some areas of cloud for East Anglia and the south east and some outbreaks of rain.
00:25 That rain turning to showers during the morning, some heavy downpours possible across East
00:29 Anglia into London and the south east.
00:31 But later the focus for showers drifts westwards into south west England and south Wales.
00:37 Otherwise it brightens up for many, the cloud early on disappearing even across eastern
00:43 Scotland, north east England where we've got some low cloud and mist during the morning.
00:47 That tends to retreat back to the beaches as the sun warms things up.
00:51 And for much of the country it is a fine afternoon.
00:54 This chart for example shows the rainfall accumulations through six hour period up to
00:59 6pm.
01:00 And it shows the speckled nature of the showers, so where we've got white, very little rainfall
01:05 if any at all.
01:07 But some sharp showers showing up here across southern parts of the UK and as much as 50mm
01:13 or more in a few spots where the heavy showers develop.
01:16 But some uncertainty as is always the case in terms of where these showers precisely
01:21 will develop.
01:22 Some more prolonged rain through the Channel just picked up there across the Channel Islands
01:27 and northern parts of France.
01:29 That's indicative of a weather front which with its associated cloud could hinder shower
01:34 development along the south coast of the UK.
01:38 So some uncertainty in how this will play out through Saturday afternoon.
01:41 Suffice to say many places dry but there will be some heavy showers about.
01:45 Likewise for Scotland, just the central part through the Highlands, Grampians, the Trossachs,
01:49 just the chance of some showers developing.
01:52 But away from the showers, many places seeing some warm sunshine, temperatures up to 22
01:57 or 23 Celsius held back along the North Sea coast by the mistiness that will come and
02:03 go through the afternoon.
02:04 That will tend to return into Saturday night, this area of low cloud blossoming across eastern
02:09 Scotland into eastern England spreading inland.
02:12 The showers towards the south west keep going until around midnight or thereabouts and eventually
02:17 they die away as well.
02:18 So most places dry as we start off Sunday, the best of the sunshine early on will be
02:23 towards the west and under those clear skies it will be a fresh start to Sunday with temperatures
02:27 of 8 or 9 Celsius where we've got the cloud 12 or 13 Celsius.
02:32 But of course where we've got the cloud temperatures won't rise as quickly on Sunday morning so
02:36 they'll be a bit more limited along that east coast through the day and it does tend to
02:40 stay misty.
02:41 Also a bit more cloud coming into the north west of Scotland at times, perhaps some drizzle
02:45 across the north west Highlands.
02:47 Further shower development to the north of the central belt there, again hit and miss.
02:51 But the focus for showers, some sharp downpours most likely down towards the south and south
02:57 west once again.
02:58 Forming where the winds converge so in places there will be quite a number of showers developing
03:02 along the south west but other areas could well avoid them through the afternoon.
03:08 Temperatures similar to Saturday, we're looking at high teens or low 20s, feeling pleasant
03:11 in the sunshine but feeling cool along the North Sea coast where it stays misty.
03:16 Similar conditions on Monday so classic mix of sunshine and spring showers.
03:21 We'll keep you updated right here.
