Transcript
00:00 It started with the business of costume and mascot rentals,
00:03 but after the pandemic,
00:05 Michael Jan Silva and his wife decided to build their own food and snack hub
00:11 that is now making a lot of money.
00:13 Let's watch it here in "Let's do business!"
00:17 I am Michael Jan Silva.
00:20 For the amount of 80,000 pesos,
00:22 we were able to start a restaurant here in Marikina.
00:26 [music]
00:31 My wife and I were thinking of having a business
00:36 to eat last January,
00:39 but officially, it started this March.
00:42 Actually, we've been doing business for a long time.
00:44 Our first business was costume rentals, mascot rentals,
00:49 birthday parties, and events.
00:51 But because of the pandemic in 2020,
00:55 we couldn't have events for the past two years.
00:57 We couldn't have parties.
00:59 So when that scenario happened,
01:02 my wife and I talked about having an extra business
01:07 that we could earn every day.
01:10 After the pandemic,
01:12 around 2021,
01:14 our imagination expanded.
01:16 That's why my wife built an aesthetics.
01:19 So more on facial, skin, and body tone.
01:24 We also learned how to make perfumes.
01:26 Actually, I've been doing business since I was young.
01:30 Because when I was young, we weren't rich.
01:33 So if I wanted to buy something,
01:35 I would sell bottles, jars, and steel.
01:40 Maybe when I was 10 years old,
01:42 that's when I started being an entrepreneur.
01:45 And then, it continued until I was 18 years old.
01:50 I also started an insurance company.
01:53 I also tried driving an F-X.
01:55 I was a driver of an F-X.
01:57 I also tried supplying Tocino Longganisa.
02:01 My wife was the same.
02:02 She was just young.
02:03 She was already selling Halohalo.
02:05 She was in grade school or high school.
02:07 She was already selling Halohalo.
02:08 So that's when we both became businessmen.
02:11 And we realized that money is in business.
02:14 That's when we focused on doing business.
02:17 Our eye-opener during the pandemic,
02:19 if we didn't become businessmen,
02:22 our situation might be worse.
02:25 If we didn't become businessmen,
02:27 we wouldn't be able to pull back on our finances.
02:32 So after the pandemic,
02:34 we told each other that
02:37 we can't just focus on one business.
02:41 Because normally, a person's mindset
02:44 when he starts this business and makes a lot of money,
02:48 he's okay with it.
02:49 But that's not true.
02:52 It's not because you're successful,
02:54 it's because you don't have a weakness.
02:56 It won't fall.
02:58 But if you have a lot of business,
03:00 even if it's weak,
03:01 your business will be able to pull back
03:03 and help other businesses.
03:04 Why do people do business?
03:06 They always answer one thing.
03:08 So that they can have money.
03:10 But at the end of the day,
03:12 it's not because you have money.
03:14 If you're a businessman,
03:16 yes, given that you have money,
03:17 but the advantage is that you're growing.
03:20 You're growing, you're learning a lot.
03:23 At the same time, if you have a problem at home,
03:25 you're helping them financially.
03:28 And at the same time, because you have money,
03:31 you're also giving work to people.
03:33 It's not just yourself that you're promoting,
03:36 you're also promoting the people around you.
03:39 Because you're making a salary.
03:41 You receive, you give, you receive back.
03:44 That's the beauty of business.
03:46 For those who want to do business,
03:48 it's not easy to do business.
03:50 That's true.
03:51 Actually, there's nothing easy in the world.
03:53 It doesn't matter if you're small,
03:55 if you're big,
03:56 if you're rich,
03:57 what's important is that you do the business in your mind.
04:00 In other words, you put in the action
04:02 to have results.
04:03 So in doing business,
04:14 always remember that you can start small but dream big.
04:19 So it's okay to start small.
04:21 What's important is that your dreams are big and wide.
04:24 What are you waiting for?
04:26 Let's go! Let's do business!
04:28 (upbeat music)
