Curlew Safari at Bolton Castle Estate

Bolton Estate in Wensleydale is to launch Curlew Safaris this June with a birdwatching tour in a 4x4 and talk by the gamekeepers. The curlew is Britain’s most endangered wading bird, with a population decline of about 60 per cent since the 1980s. But the estate, a member of the Moorland Association, has a record high of 220 curlew nests this year. This is almost the same number as can be found in the whole of the south of England, from Birmingham to Cornwall.

00:17 a curlew safari on the 8th and 9th of June at Bolton Castle in Wensleydale and

00:22 this comprises of gamekeepers taking the public round, round the estate showing

00:27 all the wildlife at a wonderful time of year when all the chicks are hatching and

00:32 yeah we've got a real abundance of waders and migratory birds back on the

00:36 moors.
