A 44-year-old man has been sentenced to 20 years' jail and five strokes of the cane after he pleaded guilty to have repeatedly raped his teenage daughter, who later gave birth. 00:32 in this case, he caused her misery and trauma.

00:36 Charged under Section 376B, subsection 1 of the Penal Code for Incest, the accused admitted

00:42 committing the offence at a house in Kampung Pachitan, Port Dickson in November 2022.

00:48 Judge Mohamad Kamil said the court also took note of the fact that the victim only reported

00:53 the matter to the police after the accused and his wife were detained for a narcotics offence.

00:58 In pressing for a deterrent sentence, Deputy Public Prosecutor M Kaleiwanan said the accused

01:04 raped the victim repeatedly until she gave birth to an illegitimate child in August last year.

01:10 It was reported the accused had been raping the girl since she was 12.

01:14 The accused, who was unrepresented, pleaded for a lighter sentence as he said he has four

01:19 children to provide for and that his wife suffered from diabetes and heart problems.

01:24 Meanwhile in another court, both the accused and his 45-year-old wife were charged with

01:28 being in possession of Yaba pills at the same house on April 28.

01:33 The accused pleaded guilty to the charge while his wife claimed trial.

01:37 Sessions Judge Mio Sulaiman Ahmad Tarmizi then fixed July 4 for mention after being

01:43 told by the prosecution that the chemist's report was not ready.
