A 13-year-old boy and two others still at large were charged in the Kajang Magistrate's Court on Friday (May 3) for animal cruelty by setting a kitten on fire last week.

00:00A 13-year-old boy was charged in the Kajang Magistrates' Court on Friday for animal

00:09The teenager pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him before Magistrate Nik Siti
00:14Norazlini, Nik Mohamed Faiz.
00:17The juvenile offender, along with two other men still at large, were accused of causing
00:21unnecessary suffering to an animal.
00:23The offence was alleged to have taken place at a parking lot of an apartment in Sungai
00:28Ramalbaru around 1pm on April 22nd.
00:32The charge was framed under Section 29 Bracket 1E of the Animal Welfare Act 2015, read together
00:39with Section 34 of the Penal Code.
00:42Those found guilty face a fine of not less than 20,000 ringgit and not more than 100,000
00:48ringgit, or a jail term of not less than three years or both.
00:53The court set bail at 1,000 ringgit with one surety and fixed June 27th for submission
00:59of the boy's moral report before sentencing is imposed.
