00:00:00Welcome to Budapest Hungary, it's golden hour on women's semi-finals day as the sun is setting in the sky here in Budapest.
00:00:10This is of course the third of four World Cups in the 2024 season as we build up to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
00:00:18Tensions are high amongst everybody surrounding this sport and the weather has been consistently relatively chilly today.
00:00:26It has to be said actually but the sun coming out does make it a little bit warmer and makes athletes adjust to those conditions
00:00:35which is something they have to do across the course of the season.
00:00:38The new format or the current format of course starting with qualifications where the athlete numbers are reduced to two groups of 18,
00:00:45semi-final A and B taking place.
00:00:47After the semi-finals we're left with the 18 best athletes who contest in the final.
00:00:51The event taking place over a condensed 90-minute duration, five disciplines with 18 athletes up against each other and competing for the medals.
00:00:58Well today is of course semi-final day so there won't be any riding but the riding rules point scoring system is on your screens now.
00:01:04We'll go into greater detail later on in the competition when riding does of course take place.
00:01:09It's then over to the fencing bonus round for the one-on-one bouts with the conclusion of the fencing action.
00:01:16We then move fairly swiftly over to the swimming pool for the heat of the 200-metre freestyle.
00:01:22Here in Budapest it's a 25-metre pool so we could see some quick times in the pool if the athletes really do push.
00:01:27We conclude with the aerodromatic laser on five laps of the 600-metre circuit with four laser shooting rounds where the athletes have to shoot the five targets.
00:01:36The first over the finish line as always is the winner.
00:01:39This is the new format, it's fast, it's frantic and a new challenge for athletes to overcome.

00:02:00Kerenza Bryson has stormed to the top of the pile ahead of Elise Satero in second place.
00:02:06Samu Kim in third, Orteza in fourth, Maliszewska in fifth, Zuxel in sixth, Abdel Maksoud in seventh, Arceo in eighth.
00:02:13But don't forget these are just as they stand.
00:02:16These will change as the season goes by.
00:02:19Xiong Mingxiong the big climber after Ankara.
00:02:22She picked up a medal in Ankara and a shot up those Olympic rankings.
00:02:26But of course the story is ever-changing and these positions will mix themselves up as we take a look back then at the fencing ranking round which took place yesterday.
00:02:40And the athletes were battling for vital points.

00:06:56Tweed is in her first semi-final of the year.
00:07:08Cabrera in good form to victory to her namesake father, Tweed ends that pretty quickly.
00:07:15Giving up two points of her score to put her on 1.87 and to move her
00:07:20a little bit closer to potentially creeping through to the final.
00:07:31Yeah, I'm going to make it wait. I'm not particularly in her best fencing form.
00:07:37We're used to seeing her on top of those standings coming out from the fencing ranking round.
00:07:41Wasn't the case here in Budapest, but wins her first bonus round point.
00:08:07So Tamara Vega joining me to lead up on the bonus round.
00:08:12Vega with the time priority. Marlene Tweed goes for that.
00:08:16She's being very aggressive here and she does get that win.
00:08:21A touch on the forearm of Vega. That was pretty quick as well for Marlene Tweed.
00:08:27So two wins means four extra points.
00:08:31And where she is right now, I think every point matters. She's currently in 15th place
00:08:39first semi of the year, so change of pace for Marlene Tweed.
00:08:45This is definitely already an achievement just making it to the semis. I mean you mentioned
00:08:51earlier in the competition that just making the semifinals and the finals now is a challenge for
00:08:55these athletes. It's five days of competing, not easy.
00:09:01Annika Zillikens up next, one of the quicker of the athletes on the
00:09:06laser arm course. She's renowned for being a very fast runner. Zillikens eighth in the European
00:09:13Games, which we think qualified her for the Olympic Games, was a silver medalist at World
00:09:18Cup final in 2021. A few wins over the years for Zillikens. She's now up against Jowade and Jowade makes it three.
00:09:26Yeah, these are big points here for Jowade.
00:09:33So Anna Malaszewska next up. Malaszewska bronze in Sofia this time last year.
00:10:03Malaszewska versus Jowade. Jowade with three victories to her name.
00:10:14Jowade already moving up the standings.
00:10:18She's currently in 14th place after those three extra wins. Let's see if she can make it four
00:10:23goals for these hot girls for lunch. Goes all out and gets the touch. It was a quick
00:10:29run. Good points this now. Eight out of a possible eight for the Swedish athletes who climbed up now
00:10:38to 193 and actually is just 12 points away from the top nine. So Jowade, who looks good, I must
00:10:46say in qualifications, she's good in laser run, didn't she? And I think she could be, if she keeps
00:10:52this run going, a bit of a threat for those top nine positions. There'll be a few athletes starting
00:10:57to nervously look over their shoulders. Blanka Bauer, by the way, starting higher up in the rankings
00:11:05than we're used to. We've got some good runners, haven't we, in that bottom end of the draw.
00:11:12Emma and Oliver, Marlena Jowade, Annika Zilikins, Anna Malaszewska, Blanka Bauer. I think we might see a
00:11:20similar battle as we saw in semi-final A. Yeah, we could do. It was a great end to semi-final A. Four
00:11:26athletes all crossing the line within a tenth of a second of each other. Prokopenko, who just missed out
00:11:32on the top nine position. Jowade looking to go into double figures here against Blanka Bauer.
00:11:39Let's look about this. Defense from Bauer, aggressive from Marlena Jowade, who makes it double figures.
00:11:46Five victories now for Jowade. That's 10 points and she climbs ever higher to those top nine
00:11:52positions. Jowade making a name for herself here in fencing bonus rounds.
00:11:58So we've just been told that Francesca Tonietti, from Italy, who is in 10th place, joint on points
00:12:05with Laura Astauskaiti, will not start. Interesting. Francesca Tonietti will not start fencing. You
00:12:12assume that means she's withdrawn from the competition because there's no reason not to join fencing.
00:12:16Yeah, we'll find out for you guys what happened with Tonietti. Hopefully she's okay. Nothing too
00:12:23serious. So we move on to the next athlete. Higher ranked Laura Astauskaiti from Lithuania.
00:12:32Ilkra Zypsel, a Turkish athlete, has just informed us that we think there's an injury
00:12:38to the leg of Francesca Tonietti. Unofficial, but our trackside reporter Ilkra Zypsel giving us
00:12:45the information. We'll see her on the fencing bonus round stage in a moment.
00:12:49Time. And that is six victories now for Jowade. This is getting, I mean, we saw something similar
00:12:55in a semi-final eight, didn't we? With a run of seven victories. Seven or eight victories for Lucy
00:13:01and Václava either way. It was for Václava. Václava, by the way, crept in to the semi-final. Yes, she did.
00:13:08So those points, I mean, here we go. They are valuable. They are. 12 points is significant.
00:13:14So Jowade has moved up now on to 297. She's just seven points away from Laura Astauskaiti,
00:13:23who is in ninth place at the moment. Next in it is Andrea Medina Gonzalez,
00:13:36who is, I must say, having a great competition. Yeah, good shot at the ranking round. It's
00:13:42up to her to gain a couple of extra points here. But it is
00:13:45Marlena Jowade who is undefeated so far. Six wins for her. It goes for a profit.
00:13:54They kind of got stuck together there, didn't they? That end, the run of Marlena Jowade.
00:13:59Irene Prampolini, by the way, who is an Italian athlete, has just been in touch and said that
00:14:07Francesca Tognetti is injured after fencing yesterday. So that must be tough. Yeah,
00:14:13that is tough. Thanks very much to Irene for getting in touch.
00:14:19I mean, it's never nice to hear that an athlete was injured. Hopefully,
00:14:24something minor and she can recover fast and move on from this.
00:14:29So Andrea Medina Gonzalez is looking to make, I think, would be her first final, by the way. She
00:14:35looks in really good form here. She's bounced back after struggling to get through to finals
00:14:40in the previous competitions this year. She's picked up a first bout victory in the fence
00:14:46and bonus round up against the Wotska of Poland. Yeah, Andrea Medina Gonzalez, who
00:14:54she's the second of two Spanish women in the summer final.
00:15:15So there is a confirmation of another victory in the fencing bonus round stage. Medina is flying
00:15:22here. She's got two victories now and that's moved her on to 2.14 and actually closing in now on
00:15:27fifth place. So good to see Andrea Medina Gonzalez, a young Spanish athlete, who's trying to qualify
00:15:34alongside Laura Heredia for Paris Olympic Games. Yeah, this area of the group is pretty congested
00:15:40now. Janine Coleman up next from Germany on 2.15 currently and she picks up the win.
00:15:48Laura Heredia pulls away from the rest of the group, moves up into fifth place now.
00:15:57And that ends the run of Andrea Medina Gonzalez at two wins.
00:16:03Laura Heredia, by the way, and her teammate was competing in the semi-final. They didn't make it
00:16:08to the finals. It would be nice to have one Spanish athlete in the finals for sure.
00:16:18Ola Klynakova up next from Ukraine.
00:16:28Also on 2.15. Both these athletes joined on points from the ranking round yesterday.
00:16:36Janine Coleman with one win, increases back out by two.
00:16:41So Ola Klynakova with the French grip on your right there. Goes down for a foot touch and gets
00:16:46it. Ola Klynakova, that was some quick work there. Ola Klynakova picks up her first win on the bonus
00:16:53round. So being told by Ernie Prampolini, who is of course a teammate of Francesca Tonghetti, that
00:17:00she doesn't think she's going to continue in the competition. She's pulled out of fencing and
00:17:03indeed pulled out of the competition. She's hurt her leg, it's possibly muscular. So yeah, we wish
00:17:09Francesca Tonghetti the best of luck in getting herself healthy again. Obviously it's not the
00:17:15time of year, you want to be getting yourself injured. She was looking good here as well, so
00:17:19sorry to hear that. Yeah, all our wishes for her to get better soon. But we move on to the competition
00:17:28with Elka Zyksel, who didn't make it to the final in Ankara in her home World Cup. But she's looking
00:17:34good here. She got, I think, 20 victories in the fencing ranking. She had 20, 19 and 18 over the
00:17:39course of the year, fencing's been good. So how can Elka Zyksel build on that here in the bonus round?
00:17:46So look, Klynakova with that extra reach of that French grip, after a second win.
00:17:54Putting together a good little run here. She's looking a bit relaxed actually. Yeah, she's
00:17:58looking chill, isn't she? She was 18th in Ankara last year, second in the global laser run city tour in
00:18:04Lviv in Ukraine in 2019. She's also had a top 10 finish in European Championships as well.
00:18:13Under 24 European Championships, should I say. Here is an Olympic silver medallist, Alzi Kluvel,
00:18:22who is looking to recapture her form from previous years. She's yet to qualify for the
00:18:27Paris Olympic Games, her home event. So this is a really important event for her. She'll be
00:18:32absolutely determined to make it through to the final. She's had a good fencing
00:18:36ranking round. She's in a good position. She's got a new pistol for this event as well. So hopefully
00:18:41she is in a good place. Klynakova, though, is doing well with those two victories to her name.
00:18:46She weighed her six earlier. And there is a double touch.
00:18:55Yeah, Klynakova needs to be aggressive now. 12 seconds on the clock.
00:18:58Time priority goes to Kluvel and it's another double touch in nine seconds.
00:19:14So Klynakova with her third win against Alzi Kluvel. Alzi Kluvel obviously had the gun
00:19:22malfunction in Ankara, which cost her a spot at the finals and potentially even a medal. She was
00:19:29in a pretty good position after that ranking round. Hopefully she can turn things around here.
00:19:35She's on the left of our commentary box as we speak. She's definitely in a good position to
00:19:43be in that final. We'll just have to catch up with her later in the competition. Michelle
00:19:47joins up on the bonus round stage now. We're in our top two athletes. 245 points from the
00:19:54ranking round yesterday. A good run by Michelle Gulyas. Very much one of the in-form athletes
00:20:02in modern pentathlon right now. Looking to stop Ola Klynakova, but she seems unbeatable.
00:20:09Ola Klynakova picks up her fourth win. Eight extra points for Ola Klynakova. Moves her up
00:20:15into fifth place.
00:20:20That is some good fencing from Ola Klynakova. Some valuable points gained by her here on the
00:20:29bonus round. This is the final bout and then we move on to the swim. Shang Ming Sheng of Korea,
00:20:38ranked first in the ranking round from yesterday. 26 victories for Shang Ming Sheng.
00:20:43Picked up a silver in Ankara and she seems to be on her way for a second medal of the season.
00:20:51Shang Ming Sheng in a fantastic position by her standards. Ola Klynakova going for the
00:20:57attack and it is Shang Ming Sheng with that repost but
00:21:01no touch. I think it was after the halt and a double touch at 12 seconds.
00:21:07Shang Ming Sheng looks to want to end this round pretty quickly. She does have time priority but
00:21:13Ola Klynakova was ready for that flush. Ola Klynakova wins the bonus round. Five wins,
00:21:20ten extra points for her. These are some big points. She's joined on points now with Ilka
00:21:25Zixu in fourth place as we finish things off nicely here on the bonus round and head over to
00:21:32the pool. There was that flush by Shang Ming Sheng. It was a distance wasn't quite right.
00:21:38Klynakova was absolutely ready for that with that defense. Good work then from all the athletes
00:21:47and a notable mention for Marlena Djawid with six wins.
00:21:53Added 12 extra points to her name but let's take a look at how the bonus round has affected the
00:21:58standings. Shang Ming Sheng is still very much in first place. Michelle Gouyash in second. Elodie
00:22:02Kluwele in third. Zuxu in fourth. Klynakova in fifth. Coleman in sixth. Gonzalez in seventh.
00:22:09Mufaka in eighth and Asanga Skyty in ninth. There are your top nine as things stand. We still have
00:22:15the swimming to go ahead of that laser run but you want to be in those top nine. Francesca
00:22:19Tognetti will not be continuing on the competition which closes things nicely here in semi-final B.
00:22:26Bauer in 11th and yeah these are the athletes that are going to be fighting those top nine
00:22:32positions as we head over to the swim before the start of the laser run. Let's just leave
00:22:38you with a couple pictures from the bonus round before we head over to the pool.

00:23:26Those then were the highlights from the bonus round and that concludes the fencing action for
00:23:31semi-final B. Ranking round was yesterday. Bonus round is now done and dusted and let's see how
00:23:36things move over to the pool again. In Budapest it's a bit of a walk from the bonus round to the
00:23:41swimming pool. It's a 25 meter pool so we're expecting quick times here in Budapest. The
00:23:48athletes will of course be swimming in three separate heats and ordered in terms of their
00:23:55ranking and their fencing and there you have it. It's an indoor pool here in Budapest
00:24:02as the final couple of athletes make their way to the pool now. Obviously the people or the athletes
00:24:08who've started further down and started the bonus round first have already made their way to the
00:24:14pool and are now just doing some light stretching and activating their muscles and just a bit of a
00:24:22dynamic warm-up ahead of this swimming. Again they do not get to warm up in the pool.
00:24:29They've had time to do that ahead of the bonus round.
00:24:35During their general warm-up time you can see that Sofia Cabrera currently
00:24:39in 18th place. She's getting ready to start. She's obviously going to be swimming in the first heat
00:24:46and she's doing some light band work there. As you can see Anika Zillikens as well. So what she's
00:24:55kind of doing there is simulating the action of her muscles during the swim to get them primed
00:25:00and ready. Obviously again she doesn't get to swim in the pool as things stand at the moment.
00:25:09Anika Zillikens is in 13th place so I'm not sure how that moved after the bonus
00:25:15round. We'll get confirmation on that soon but she should be in the first or second heat.
00:25:23Marlena Jawid was in your shot there. She got six points on the bonus round which totaled up
00:25:29to a total of 12 extra points added to her name. Tamara Vega in your shot as well.
00:25:36Didn't have the best of runs in Ankara. She did make it to the finals
00:25:40but finished in the bottom half. So she'll be looking to go one better here in Budapest.
00:25:49Definitely an athlete who's got some grit and she's fast on the Laser Run Arena let me tell
00:25:57you that. She's currently in 14th place. You can see her move up the standings.
00:26:03So we're just over eight minutes to go to the start of the swim. James Anadakis has
00:26:09already had out of the commentary box and into the pool trying to get you closer to the action
00:26:18with an interview with one of the coaches or athletes. Katherine Mayan-Oliver. I'm sorry
00:26:24it's her sister Mayan-Oliver who's competing in semi-finals. It would be her sister obviously
00:26:30was also competing. She competed in semi-final A and it's a nice battle we have between both
00:26:37sisters. One of them has already booked her spot for the Olympics. Mayan is the sister
00:26:46that just missed out on Olympic qualification. So pretty strong Mexican team we have here. Tamara,
00:26:50Vega, Katherine Mayan-Oliver, Mayan-Oliver and
00:26:54I'm forgetting someone.
00:27:08Forgetting someone I'm pretty sure. Anyways we have seven minutes to go to the start of the swim.
00:27:15Andrea Medina-Gonzalez up on your screen now. She's one of two Spanish athletes competing in
00:27:21the semi-finals. Obviously Laura Heredia competed in semi-final. She didn't make it to the finals
00:27:26although she has already booked her spot for the Olympic Games. Andrea Medina-Gonzalez trying to
00:27:32make it to her first final of the year. It's a tough year let me tell you. 2024 is a tough one
00:27:40for all the athletes. We have some big names competing in most of the competitions this year
00:27:47and they're all fighting for ranking points and fighting for medals
00:27:52but the ultimate goal this year is to make it to the Olympics
00:27:55and medal at the Olympics. The dream of most athletes in many different sports across the world
00:28:03and definitely for pentathletes as well.
00:28:07She might lose some time in the pool. She's not the quickest of swimmers but again she does have
00:28:12a strong laser run and she's a quick runner. She makes some time up with her running so
00:28:18hopefully she can squeeze her way into those top nine spots. She's currently a couple of seconds
00:28:24behind but Jane's got a lot of time. She's got a lot of time. She's got a lot of time.
00:28:31She's currently a couple of seconds behind
00:28:36but James is now in the pool and ready for an interview so let's go to James.
00:28:43We're joined by Victor Alesmendez, Mexican coach. Victor thank you for joining us poolside here in
00:28:48Budapest. You have two of your Mexican athletes here. We have of course Oliver and Tamara Vega.
00:28:54Just talk to us about their competition and how they're getting on so far. Yes it's going to be a
00:28:58very strong competition. We have two athletes Tamara Vega and Marian Oliver. I think all the
00:29:05athletes are looking forward to pass to the final so it's going to be very complicated.
00:29:10Difficult competition this year isn't it? Athletes struggling not just to get through to the final but
00:29:14through to qualifications through to semi-finals as well. Everyone's stepped up their game haven't
00:29:20they? Everyone's performing at their very best it feels this year. Yeah the qualification
00:29:26it was very strong. Also the fencing it was very difficult in semi-finals so all are close.
00:29:33Bonus round is what very difficult but not gain a lot of points so it's going to be very important
00:29:39this this discipline swimming pool so we were lucky I think so. Your athletes Oliver and Vega
00:29:47how much effort will they give in the pool? Are they going to give a hundred percent or will they
00:29:51conserve some energy for laser run? She has to do the best but she has an injury yesterday at fencing
00:29:58yes yes so I think she can do the best but she has a very very bad injury in his leg
00:30:07and she's left. And you know just looking sort of in the rest of the field you've got the likes of
00:30:12Michelle Guglia, Chelsea Cluvel you know in very good form. There's top athletes competing at the
00:30:17top of their game here isn't that? Yeah I think it's a good level in this group all the athletes
00:30:23has the possibility to classify but I mean it's very strong. And how exciting is that battle for
00:30:29the top nine? It feels anybody can get in there. Yes yes we have a very good runners behind us

00:31:04those top nine spots to fight for as we get ready to start the swimming heats which is
00:31:15walk with the athletes to the introduction area. Blanca Bauer is in your screen now she's
00:31:24currently in the bottom half of the semi-final but she's familiar with that area that's where
00:31:29she usually starts but not where she usually finishes this is where we see Blanca Bauer
00:31:36making up some big points in the laser run arena so the swimming well her swimming is pretty good
00:31:42and that's where you want to be you want to at least maintain your position but let's
00:31:47introduce the six athletes who will be swimming in heat number one Tamara Vega swimming lane
00:31:52number two Jawid and three Adam Osud and four Oliver and five Cabrera and six and well Tony
00:31:59Yatsy is not starting the swim but she would have swam in lane number seven so we'll have
00:32:04an empty lane for this first heat only five athletes competing in the first heat of the swim
00:32:12so
00:32:25we're just about ready to start the first heat the judges and officials are making their way
00:32:30up to the pool as we speak as we get ready to introduce the athletes one by one up to
00:32:39the starting box the athletes will of course be swimming 200 meter freestyle
00:32:47and there's 25 meter indoor pool here in Budapest

00:33:00Safiya Cabrera starting things off will be swimming in lane number six
00:33:05for Guatemala she was fourth at the Pan American Games team relay
00:33:11she hasn't made a final this year this would be her first that she does muster up the strength
00:33:17and find a way to make it into those top nine it's going to be tough for her she's currently
00:33:23the very bottom of the semi-final beaches starting in 18th place mine Oliver up next
00:33:29swimming lane number five gold at the Pan American Games and the sister
00:33:36who's been able to qualify for the olympics so far from the Mexican team
00:33:44swimming lane number four she uh well the ranking round didn't really go her way but
00:33:51some of them what's with is a tough offbeat and maybe we'll see her move up the soundings
00:33:58with the laser run coming up but Marlena Jowit is up next this is her first semi-final of the year
00:34:05could she make it her first final
00:34:10tomorrow Vega swimming lane number two for Mexico is up next
00:34:17tomorrow Vega was eighth in the 2022 world cup final golden albina in the relays of 2022
00:34:26and 10th in the individuals and 7th at the 2021 world championship these are the five
00:34:32athletes competing in heat number one of the semi-final lead
00:34:38just one more time will not be starting the swim she's withdrawn from the competition
00:34:53and we are underway with heat number one
00:34:59looks like the athletes are pretty much neck and neck as things down the first 25 meters fly by
00:35:06in this short course swimming pool
00:35:11Sofia Cabrera in your shot there seems to be taking the early lead of this race
00:35:17but again it's pretty tight from all the athletes we see this with times as they come up
00:35:21to the first 50 meters of their race some of the most loses in first Marlena Jowit is in
00:35:25second and tomorrow Vega is in third but they're all within one second of each other
00:35:31yeah it's interesting to hear from the Mexican coach actually to hear how much effort
00:35:34the Mexicans will be putting into this race it sounds like Colorado has a little bit of an injury
00:35:38tomorrow Vega they should be going full pelt in this first swimming heat and it's a good battle
00:35:43between those three women yeah definitely i mean they're part of the really i mean the Mexicans
00:35:49are part of a really strong Mexican team already one athlete qualified with
00:35:54already one athlete qualified with
00:35:56Catherine Meyer another take qualification from the Panamerican Games but you've also
00:36:00got the likes of Tamara Vega you've also got the likes of uh Mariano too as well she's got
00:36:06Catherine Meyer and Oliver as well yeah Mariana said she qualified for semi-finals she's had
00:36:10the same start to the season she had last year and there's work to be done with many of these
00:36:17athletes
00:36:40if she's going to continue her search towards the top nine positions she's going to have to
00:36:46give everything with just 25 meters to go for the end of this race and look at this pace from
00:36:54Sam Rajman's suit how does she get a time with sub 212 her fastest time in the past 12 months
00:37:03she's putting some pace into these last few meters it's a 213.31
00:37:16so heat one done and dusted while energy weighed in third tomorrow Vega in second place Sam Rajman
00:37:30sued with a big smile on the wave there is the fastest athlete in the pool we're just going to

00:37:56so let's take a look at the standings then updated from the times from swimming heat
00:38:02one tomorrow Vega provision he goes top mileage weighed second place then a bit of a gap
00:38:07Salman who was fastest in that swimming heat is in third place so they could bear in fourth
00:38:13mine Oliver in fifth place and of course we did lose Francesca Tognetti so she won't be competing
00:38:20in the rest of this competition we wish her best going forward so here we have the athletes in
00:38:25swimming heat two Andrea Medina-Gonzalez, Oktavia Nowocka, Laura Sadowskaya, Blanka Bauer, Anna Malashevska
00:38:36and Alan Zillikens is some quick runners in that little midfield pack there it's all building up
00:38:40nicely to hopefully promises to be a good laser run yeah definitely I mean semi-final B
00:38:48seems to have all the good runners but again all the athletes are quick runners
00:38:55especially for this season as we welcome Monica Zillikens up to the pool
00:39:00Zillikens very much an informed athlete
00:39:05and in a good position to qualify for the finals Anna Malashevska is up next in lane number six
00:39:12Anna Malashevska was bronze in Bulgaria last year
00:39:19Blanka Bauer who is such a quick laser runner is starting to make a name for herself here
00:39:26in the Tathlon senior competitions is out next she's currently the second highest
00:39:36Hungarian female athlete Laura Sadowskaya
00:39:42with a gold medalist and is still going at the age of 39 and going strong by the way
00:39:47another chance of even picking up another medal at the Olympic Games alongside her Nowocka from Poland
00:39:58also an Olympic medalist from Rio and Andrea Medina-Gonzalez having a fantastic competition
00:40:03here in Budapest looking to qualify I think would be for her first ever final
00:40:13yeah you're correct because this is her first semi-final of the year
00:40:17and she's really stepped up her game she has
00:40:22she's in the middle of things this thing's done now she's in heat number two listen it's all
00:40:27about getting in the finals isn't it once you're in the final obviously you take stock and you
00:40:31but if you can get yourself in that final yeah you're in with a chance aren't you obviously
00:40:34got to get through the riding which is a a big challenge for the athletes as is every part of
00:40:39this competition if we're honest with ourselves six athletes primed and ready to go and in the
00:40:44pool they go swimming heat two of three here in Budapest Hungary yeah Annika Zillikens is
00:40:53uh could start this first 25 meters Andrea Medina-Gonzalez
00:41:00I mean all six athletes are neck and neck at the moment still early times
00:41:07this 200 meters approaching their first 50 meters
00:41:13yeah we are making our way through the race quite nicely here Medina-Gonzalez going well
00:41:23so we're going to the next turn close I think it's Medina-Gonzalez slightly ahead here
00:41:33if you take a look down the order now what's good is on paper the fastest swimmer Blanka Bauer
00:41:41Zillikens and Gonzalez are all close yeah we see the split time on your screen that Blanka
00:41:49Bauer turns first just 0.08 behind her is Annika Zillikens second in between all three of them
00:41:54though isn't there it's a close battle this Annika Zillikens still very much in control of this race
00:42:05final 75 meters to go
00:42:09yeah we are getting now towards the business end of this
00:42:13second heat it's very close between Bauer and Zillikens just 0.46 now Medina-Gonzalez is hanging
00:42:18on but has slipped a bit further back to one further back in fact as we approach the final

00:44:26six highest ranked athletes and this incidentally is going to be the quickest swimming heat we've
00:44:32got the three quickest swimmers on paper in the sense of Gouyache, Clivel and Rzucsul
00:44:40as it's the possibly slightest amount to exceed would be but first out it's Janine Coleman
00:44:47you'll be pleased with how this competition is going for her so far she was fourth in the
00:44:52Hungarian indoor opening Budapest at the beginning of this year considered by many as
00:44:58the first big competition of the year Elka Rzucsul a silver medalist at the final last
00:45:03year in the hungarian multiple world cup medalist and he's going well here
00:45:11Anna Plunyakova in fifth place she moved up to fifth place after those
00:45:19nice six extra victories she got she got on the penultimate piece
00:45:25Eldy Clivel swim lane number four
00:45:31she's going to try to turn things around here and change the narrative after the world cup
00:45:37in Ankara last week with her pistol malfunction and Michel Gouyache the one everyone has their
00:45:46eyes on she's a favorite for gold in most competitions we go to basically but definitely
00:45:52in good form for gold here as well Xiangxiang finishing things off swimming in lane number two
00:46:00trying to go one better she got silver in Ankara
00:46:06can she get gold here in Budapest still semi-finals day so no medals but
00:46:13we'll be looking forward to that final on Saturday then those are your six athletes

00:46:29lots of time can be gained in the pool lots of points can be added to your score as the athletes
00:46:35make their way into the water for the final time in the swimming discipline in semi-finals women's
00:46:41semi-finals of course men's semi-finals coming tomorrow at the same time into the turn goes
00:46:48Gouyache first she's looking quick and up for this fastest time over the past 12 months it's 207.62
00:46:58fastest time for Clivel is a 210 and I must say Clivel I wouldn't say has necessarily lost pace
00:47:05in the pool she used to be one of if not the fastest swimmer she's playing it smart I think
00:47:10she is I think she's holding back a little bit as if she could help you know when the sport was
00:47:16the old format where all the five disciplines were well spread out three of the five disciplines
00:47:21were spread out a couple of times just to come together anyway four of the disciplines if you
00:47:25like have all spread out and the athletes had time to recover from the swimming didn't they
00:47:29so it wasn't like it just led straight into laser run swimming actually began the day didn't it the
00:47:33previous and it's an absolute joy to watch those two swim Michele Gouyache and
00:47:46probably with the best swimming styles out of all the female athletes
00:47:53and modern pentathlon let's see it just
00:47:57feels like you're watching a swan on a lake gliding through that water
00:48:06so Michele Gouyache approaching the 150 meter mark now in first place Elodie Kuva is a second
00:48:12and a half behind and Chung Chung in third place is three seconds behind
00:48:17going to the business end now of this final swimming heat a big grasp of breath for Gouyache
00:48:23as she powers through these final few lengths there's the turn from Gouyache closely followed
00:48:28by Clue Valley it will be Gouyache quickest in the pool as we head to the final few meters of
00:48:36this third swimming heat Gouyache of Hungary in front of a Hungarian local crowd sets a time of
00:48:42208.71 great time just a second slower than their fastest time of the year
00:48:48Cluvel in second place with a Zuxel coming home in third your top three as you would expect
00:48:56and those three are looking in good form heading into the laser armature Michele Gouyache obviously
00:49:02be pleased that time yeah I mean if that's not her pushing in the pool we should be aware of
00:49:08Michele Gouyache for the olympics for sure I mean the time of 208 is definitely up there with
00:49:13the quickest times we've seen of the season good shot that isn't it we just see the very
00:49:25small amount of time athletes have to breathe
00:49:30I mean 200 meters is a mix of two endurance and sprint two strokes underwater before you
00:49:37breathe basically isn't it yeah I think it varies from athlete to athlete but holding a breath for
00:49:45too long could mean a slower swim time as we look at the results from the swimming yeah let's take
00:49:50a look then Gouyache is three points ahead of Xiangming Xiang Cluvel is a little bit further
00:49:55back as Zuxel in fourth Clunikever in fifth Coleman in sixth Andrea Medina Gonzalez in seventh
00:50:02and Watzke in eighth and Bauer is in ninth place 4.82 Bauer a good laser runner that is not a good
00:50:09sign for those lower back 4.82 remember that score it's just three points the difference between
00:50:14Zillikens who is also a good laser runner that could be a nice battle Tamara Vega is just a few
00:50:19points further back Malashevska not a million miles away Jouade with those 12 points she got
00:50:25from the fencing bonus round is in pretty good shape as well Astell Skyty always quick this could
00:50:31be a really exciting laser on by the way a lot of very quick athletes bunching up towards the bottom
00:50:36end of that draw Sam Rumsdottir in 15 Seveka Berra in 16th place mine Oliver in 17th and Francesca
00:50:43Tongeti has withdrawn from the competition due to an injury that's where we're at after the first
00:50:50two disciplines we will watch the highlights of the swimming before building up to the start
00:50:55don't go anywhere
00:51:25so there we go the swimming has finished and it's now time for us to move over to the start of the
00:51:53laser run it's a little bit further than that uh animation implies it's actually about a four or
00:51:59five minute walk for the athletes so a bit of a warm-up perhaps ma'am if they want to jog down
00:52:03they could maybe yeah exactly you know for the athletes it's fine for the coaches probably
00:52:08a pain but uh yeah well for the uh commentators who have to run some interviews uh this is
00:52:15obviously the rules of the laser run when the athletes arrive at the shooting range having to
00:52:19hit five targets they have 50 seconds in which to do so the quicker you get through the quicker you
00:52:25continue with your race a time of 10 seconds is always very good less than 10 seconds and you're
00:52:30on fire here we go the start of the build up to the laser run which will be starting uh in a short
00:52:37while's time so athletes and coaches arriving in the range so uh let's see if we can go and grab
00:52:44some of them yeah so it was interesting to see how the athletes from the first heat make their way
00:52:52out to laser arena first you have a bit of extra time to recover yes and uh obviously warm up
00:53:00sofia cabrera on your screen there with her coach saeed team from guatemala with a lot
00:53:07of work to do sofia cabrera starting down in 18th place now so well i sounded correct
00:53:14that she's actually starting down 16th place so well we moved up a couple spots after that swim
00:53:24bodes well for the guatemalan and the team from mexico making an appearance and cheering on for
00:53:31their teammates on your screen there is kathryn maran oliver she was in semi-final a and her
00:53:38sister is competing in the second semi-final so out cheering for her sister as well as tamara vega
00:53:48the athletes are putting on their running kits and pitting their numbers to their jerseys
00:53:57final last minute warm-ups before this laser on andrea medina gonzalez is in the mid pack of things
00:54:06before heading to that laser on annika zillikin just out of those top nine spots now and
00:54:15definitely a contender for them she's uh two seconds away from ninth place
00:54:21and we all know she's a quick laser runner and things can turn around very quickly in semi-finals
00:54:29so we're over nine minutes to go now for the start of this laser and
00:54:33uh 15 minutes away or should i say 20 minutes away
00:54:39from figuring out who the second nine athletes will be
00:54:47for super saturday this is of course the women's semi-final day tomorrow we have the men's
00:54:52semifinal to bring you before it's super saturday time for women's and men's finals
00:55:00so we're still halfway through the world cup series still a lot can change and
00:55:12athletes can turn around their luck here in budapest let's take a look at
00:55:17some of the athletes who are going to be competing in this second semi-final
00:55:23well we obviously have elodie cluvel who needs no introduction she was a silver medalist from
00:55:30the olympics in brio she was sixth in ankara last year silver in car last year and she was
00:55:38gold in the world cup final of 2022 had some issues this year uh didn't make it to the finals
00:55:43in car after starting in first and uh in ankara she had this uh issue with her pistol her um
00:55:51pistol allegedly broke and she bought a new one actually for this budapest world cup hopefully
00:55:56things can turn around for her she is currently starting in third place it's uh always good to
00:56:03see her at the forefront of the field hopefully she can shoot well and cruise over to that final
00:56:10she's uh in a good position to do so if things go well in the range lara so this guy who was just up
00:56:17on your screen there one of the quickest runners modern pentathlon has ever seen
00:56:21and a two-time olympic medalist and uh she's done more olympic games than any other athlete in the
00:56:29field andrea medina gonzalez is just in the range it's a couple minutes until
00:56:40she has to leave the range and go to the sharp finish line now
00:56:44he's just got confirmation of the results after the swimming and bonus round michelle gulyash
00:56:51is very much in first place sheng ming sheng is in second elodie cubel as previously mentioned
00:56:57is in third ilka zucco and so is starting in fourth ola clinic event fifth janine coleman in
00:57:02sixth andrea medina gondalez in seventh savjana vaka in third and blanca bauer in ninth and those
00:57:09are the top nine athletes the other athletes are going to be chasing down it's a three second
00:57:16or is it a two second fall back to 10th place anika zillikins is starting in 10th and
00:57:23she'll have some work to do to get blanca bauer but first let's head to the laser on arena track
00:57:30side with james jamie cook swiss coach good to see you as always my friend uh obviously no
00:57:35athletes for you in this semi-final but probably keeping a keen eye on the competition what you
00:57:38made of things so far yeah it's going well yeah unfortunately we haven't got any swiss
00:57:42representation but the girls did really well you know really good effort so and then i think
00:57:47actually this year the the qualification for the games is so so tough and every world cup is is
00:57:53incredibly hard to to qualify these girls will be obviously trying to get into the final um you've
00:57:58got elodie cavell here uh michelle gulash obviously home favorite so i think everyone
00:58:02will be looking at those two to qualify elodie had a little bit of a tough time in in ankara
00:58:07at the last world cup in the shooting range so we'll see how she gets on here um and then uh yeah
00:58:12it's all to play for we saw from some semi-final a i think proper vanco missed out on the sprint
00:58:17finish four athletes into into that ninth spot so um yeah it's exciting this is what we're here for
00:58:24yeah the point you made there which is what a lot of coaches and a lot of athletes are reflected on
00:58:27it's just how difficult the competition is this year just getting out qualifications into semi
00:58:30finals is proving hard for a lot of you know the seasoned athletes everyone's bringing their a
00:58:34game for competition this year aren't they yeah completely it's olympic year you know this is what
00:58:38a lot of people sort of train for hold their breath for for four years um we've only had the
00:58:44three years for since the obviously the 2021 games um and i and i think it's one of those
00:58:49moments where a lot of people are really really pushing and i think the level of all competitions
00:58:54boys and girls has gone through the roof recently which is testament to the to the sport testament
00:58:58to the athletes um and i think it's one of those ones where you know it is incredibly competitive
00:59:05for those spots and um especially in hungary we've seen you've obviously got the six hungarians and
00:59:10they're all fighting and pushing for each other um so yeah just i actually can't quite get over
00:59:16the level of competitiveness uh amongst the athletes so it's uh it's brilliant to watch
00:59:21just finally jim you mentioned it in your first answer about the level we had in semi-final a
00:59:26a really interesting battle towards the end wasn't just quickly just summarize are you expecting an
00:59:29exciting later on again that yeah i think so you know we go from qualifications to semi-finals to
00:59:34finals so this is one of the ones where um you know to get into that top 12 obviously from the
00:59:39quarterfinals and now top nine um into the final it's just ridiculously tough um i think actually
00:59:45the ones that get in are the athletes that um you know all of the athletes are working incredibly
00:59:49hard and pushing for these olympic ones so it's going to be tough and exciting race jamie a pleasure

01:00:09inside scoop and uh yeah it's it's interesting how it's different when we interview the coaches
01:00:16and athletes i mean the coaches are talking about how difficult the competition has become and the
01:00:20athletes are just one of those who don't really want to admit that uh it's that tough but again
01:00:27you see the level these athletes are competing at and uh the amount of effort they have to put in
01:00:33order to get into a semi-final let alone a final olympic year is tough and it's incredibly fast
01:00:43so michelle guish on your screens there is starting top of the pile three seconds ahead
01:00:49let's take a look at how gulyas has gone on in her career so far bronze medal at the youth olympic
01:00:55games hoping to add one to her list at paris 2024 she secured her spot after her performance at the
01:01:05european games and let's see how she compares against the rest 13 above average in fencing
01:01:11that is part of the secret to success to michelle gulyas six percent above average in the swimming
01:01:17and then of course three percent above average in the laser one looking elsewhere in terms of where
01:01:24she starts and where she finishes gulyas really on your news in one direction in cairo last year
01:01:29started second finished first dropped to place in budapest last year you remember that exciting
01:01:34final between blanca guzzi and michelle gulyas she had a problem in the riding in uh bath last
01:01:39year in the world championship so we won't read too much into that in cairo started first and
01:01:44finished first okay this is a semi-final so she's not too worried about where she finishes as long
01:01:48as it's in that top nine michelle gulyas one to watch here in budapest as she looks to make it
01:01:54back to back gold medals in two events that she's completed in so far this year tamara vega is in
01:02:0311th place and is just three points off of the top nine ilka rizuk saw comfortably in that that's
01:02:12top nine she's 33 seconds off the lead but is looking i must say in very good form here she
01:02:19has a senior world ranking of fourth in the world she's won world championship medals and of course
01:02:26multiple world cup medals including in ankara her home event where she won silver at the world cup
01:02:34final she turns up here in budapest with a point to prove she's not had the best start to the year
01:02:41but she is uh in comparison to the others pretty bang on level when it comes to fencing three percent
01:02:49above average in the swimming and way above average in terms of laser and she's quick
01:02:54really quick ilka rizuk so you would think we will see her in the final from that position
01:03:00she went from 10th to 8th in budapest this time last year seventh to second as we mentioned in
01:03:04world cup final 10th to 7th and also a few other events she's shot through the uh ranking so ilka
01:03:15azuccel is certainly one of our athletes to keep an eye on and a bit of a feature on her there
01:03:21as we build up to the start of the laser it's not gonna be exciting yeah i mean
01:03:25we've seen it with semi-final a and semi-final b i think it's gonna be a lot more exciting we've
01:03:31uh gathered a bunch of quick runners in the semi-final view definitely i think that's a good
01:03:37point to make there are some quick runners you look at our as does gacy in 14th place as we
01:03:42take a look at the standings as they pop up on your screens now go yes three seconds ahead of
01:03:47xiong cluvel is uh well i think we have to keep an eye on cluvel we do because and this is just
01:03:54because she struggled with the shooting this year she's got a new pistol and i'm quietly confident
01:03:58we're going to see some good shooting from cluvel listen i don't think she's going to be
01:04:01shooting six second shoots there's there's a transitional period in which you need to improve
01:04:06yeah you're shooting but she looks good in semi-finals and qualifying sorry i was just
01:04:11gonna say a time of around 15 seconds should be fine for her she's a quick runner yeah
01:04:16can make up some time 20 seconds you can get away with you know 420s 40s anyway uh she is currently
01:04:23in third place zook stills in fourth place but it's a battle for ninth place zillikins can she
01:04:28catch bauer one second behind those two will be at each other all race i imagine tamara vega is
01:04:34only uh four seconds behind blanca bauer she's going to be trying to get herself in there malashevska
01:04:40is going to be giving it a good try as is jwade as is asadul sky t then there's a bit of drop-off
01:04:46abdul maksud is going to have to have the perfect laser on in order to qualify but she could do it
01:04:50uh sofia cabrera and maya and oliver are a bit further down mine although we understand is
01:04:56carrying an injury and coach victor confirmed that when we got the interview with him didn't
01:05:01he so uh yeah i think it's probably now just a case of mine oliver just going out there enjoying
01:05:07herself really because she's probably not going to be into the finals this year yeah i mean
01:05:11go getting into the finals is good but uh your health and your physical health is uh

01:06:54and tamara vega one second back as well the rest of the athletes make their way out the box
01:07:01one marathi left or two marathi should i say are left but it's all about that battle for ninth
01:07:07blanca bauer is already moving her way up yeah blanca blanca bauer is going to be quick now
01:07:12what's good moves into that target zone and annika zillikins is storming through tamara vega is trying
01:07:21to keep pace so there's a few athletes up front we need to keep an eye on because it's not just
01:07:26about those chasing it's about those maintaining and it's about trying to keep your cool and
01:07:31keep calm and collective uh throughout the duration of this race blanca bauer
01:07:35all over the back of medina now as you see her making a way through the field top 320 seconds
01:07:40ahead and this is the battle now for ninth place in it and zillikins is going around the outside
01:07:50and there we go moves up into the top nine so change of position on the opening lap as our
01:07:57lead athletes make their way towards the shooting range and this could be quite the fun as well
01:08:03it is i mean we've had a change of ninth twice in the first lap yeah it's perhaps a sign of
01:08:10things to come hey at the shooting range then is gullash and uh shang shang yeah it's uh
01:08:20and yeah pretty steady start from both of them as we uh just see now gullash and song 13 and 14
01:08:30seconds respectively i think that's okay for a first shoot as well they'll both probably take
01:08:35that usually takes uh a round or two to go as cluvel is in the range cluvel and zuxal who both
01:08:45were knocked out of uh semi-finals in ankara cluvel just needs to keep her cool here it's going
01:08:51to be i reckon at least a 20 second shoot here for cluvel as it's a little bit slow as well
01:08:56cluvenikova arrives at the range 15 seconds for zuxal needs to focus on that last shot this is
01:09:04getting cosy for cluvel 28 seconds for cluvel so she's lost 20 seconds really there hasn't she
01:09:10so we don't have to improve on that going forward yeah and she remains in fourth place though so
01:09:17so far so good good shoot there from uh medina by the way you started in seventh moved up to
01:09:23fifth place but dina gonzalez showing us what she can do here really good to see
01:09:28cluvenikova solidly in sixth place
01:09:32look at this battle here by the way oh my goodness me seventh eighth ninth and tenth
01:09:38there you go chuck assaduskaty in the mix as well one of the fastest runners on the track so
01:09:43this is going to be dramatic folks strike yourselves in after mcsued by the way with an
01:09:49eight second shoot surely she can't make her way back into it can she tamara vegas there
01:09:55well energy wade who you remember picked up uh some good points in the ranking round and blanca
01:10:00bauer going around trying to go on the outside of anika zillikins and zillikins goes no you can wait
01:10:06your turn slams the door shut and picks up the pace and actually being pulled back into this
01:10:11on the clinic of her is uh not too far away front three are fairly safe as the okra zixles move
01:10:18forward she didn't have the best shoot and cluvel still okay actually by the way in fourth place but
01:10:23you just fear she could get pulled into this battle the front two are approaching the shooting
01:10:29range again here we go this is uh all very interesting battles across the field there is
01:10:38gulyash and xiong in the range both make their first gulyash makes a second three for gulyash
01:10:47misses the fourth it's now three for three for both gulyash and xiong four out of five for gulyash
01:10:5210.7 seconds three or four seconds earlier than it was before shanks consistent with her shooting
01:10:5814 is fine by the way isn't it a 14 second shoot solid shoot i mean she's not in any battle right
01:11:04now so she should be fine okay as xoxo at the range again as well and as xoxo makes it two out
01:11:12of five five three out of five this is good shooting from azusa four out of five can she
01:11:16get it done she can 12.86 all eyes now on cluvel that's better three out of five for cluvel
01:11:25misses her fourth listen we know cluvel can shoot well she's won an olympic silver medal
01:11:30but she has been struggling uh the last couple scenes always his fifth shot by the team to catch
01:11:34out 17 seconds shoot though for cluvel that's much better 13 seconds better than the previous
01:11:39lap so cluvel going well here two out the four to go now we see zillikins and medina gonzalez
01:11:45who shot so well in the previous round but i think we've seen the gondola is looking very good
01:11:49here by the way you can see colman powers away and nicova struggled a little bit here lauras
01:11:57del skatey so janine colman in eighth place after starting where did colman start colman was in sixth
01:12:05last case is now in ninth and i think those top nine unless anyone else further back can really
01:12:12make an impact on that could be the ones that get into that final it's a bit early to say
01:12:17as clinic of her is holding on do we have any of the big ones coming through making her way
01:12:24back through she started in 15th place she shoots so well samara she does a good friend of yours as
01:12:30well yeah she is i mean she's a pretty solid athlete uh through and through and i think
01:12:35it's her shooting that really saves her most of these competitions and she's one of the more
01:12:40focused and consistent shooters out there what's her running like uh she's actually a pretty quick
01:12:46runner as well um yeah at this level everyone's a good runner so it's all about that shooting
01:12:52you get everyone has a good one if you get some that are really really good bronze medal for uh
01:12:56abdomen suit in cairo last year she's also won bronze in budapest uh in 2022 can she scrape her
01:13:04way into the final gulyash and sean are enjoying themselves out the front by the way they are
01:13:10way out in front of the others as the rest of the athletes start to try and catch him up gulyash
01:13:18with four out the five shown with there we go it's another solid 10 second shoot for gulyash
01:13:24shown with a third 14 second shoot
01:13:27and let's have a look and then elka zuxal who's out the range
01:13:37it's a little bit slower this from azutsu now three out of five
01:13:41four out of five for azutsu and then we got 13 seconds to shoot solid that from azutsu
01:13:46what about cluvel cluvel who shot a 17 second shoot in the second routine it was 30 seconds
01:13:52in the first i said this is probably the most consistent shooting we've seen from cluvel this
01:13:57season it's four out of five from cluvel and she looks to get that fifth target wrapped up this is
01:14:01the target she seems to struggle on consistently we're over 20 seconds now for cluvel it's a 20.77
01:14:06that's okay she keeps herself in that top four position zillikins by the way is rising through
01:14:12the field as is bauer medina gonzalez astell skates they're all out coleman and what about
01:14:18klunikov and abdul mcsude what about malyshevska jwayd nowotska coleman has dropped down to ninth
01:14:25place it's out of range now 10 second shoot from her she's currently in 10th place time

01:14:48gulyash and shong are separated by very little janine coleman is in ninth place and she looks
01:14:56like she might be about to overtake andrea medina gonzalez so could andrea medina gonzalez
01:15:01be the athlete at risk here lara astell skatey always looks like she's putting so much effort
01:15:08into running she's so quick coleman is trying to keep up with the olympic gold and silver medalist
01:15:17she was a silver medalist in tokyo gold medalist uh in london 2012 olympic games
01:15:25and we are approaching that final shoot gulyash and shong are arriving at the range
01:15:34for one final time a quick glance over the shoulder of laura astell skatey

01:15:42currently in ninth position she's got a lot of athletes coming up close behind she needs to
01:15:48shoot well at the end here so gulyash and shong at the range two out of two for both of these
01:15:53athletes three out of five for gulyash this has been great shooting from gulyash by the way and
01:15:58853 and at 11 47 for shong who's gone from 3 14s and glash the shooting she's got better and better
01:16:07with a 974 is in the final what about uh cluvel this is where things start to get a bit nervy
01:16:17shoot bad here and you could be out the semis but cluvel's made it three out the five this is good
01:16:23stuff from cluvel he sees final two that final shot she can get away now that'll be a confidence
01:16:28giver a 12.9 one for cluvel who is out of the range and will safely be in the final
01:16:35zillikins astell skiety astell skiety's away zillikins is away what about sandrea medina
01:16:42gonzalez a great shoot from andrea medina gonzalez who could be about to qualify for her first final
01:16:48unless can sound up the mcsued spoil the party blanca bow you'd feel will be the quickest of
01:16:53that pack janine colman and andrea medina gonzalez needs to give this everything now
01:16:57because sam raab mcsued you'll see sweeping around the corner in a moment andrea medina

01:17:07does she catch her you know what it's i think it's around five meters or ten meters separating
01:17:12those two athletes it's about who holds on but it's gonna be at the end she's closing in by the
01:17:17way this is going to be an epic end to semi-final b and ramadina gonzalez looking to qualify for her
01:17:23first ever final there's a group of athletes in front of her who've all broken away zillikins bauer
01:17:28astell skiety and colman they're all gone it's now all attention on andrea medina gonzalez 21
01:17:34years of age from spain she's made her first semi-final of the year here in budapest looking
01:17:40to make her first final there is going to be a battle at the end of this race i'm curious as to
01:17:45how far sam raab mcsued is behind her there's uh andrea medina gonzalez and i think she's done it
01:17:51you know i think that gap is long enough she's keeping just on the tailwind of those athletes
01:17:56in front salma abdul mcsued is giving this everything the grimace on her face no one wants
01:18:02to finish 10th and miss out it's six seconds the gap and andrea medina gonzalez can taste success
01:18:08she can taste the victory of all that hard work a first final within sight now as the athletes make
01:18:16their way over the finish line gullash shong azuccel cluvel colman zillikins as does katie
01:18:23bauer and making her first final congratulations to andrea medina gonzalez of spain just missing
01:18:31out there is salma abdul mcsued take a breath everyone we've got our 18 athletes for super
01:18:37saturday's final yeah that was amazing work from the athletes andrea medina gonzalez did a good job
01:18:44of holding on to the end there making her first ever final that's an achievement she'll be proud
01:18:50of for sure this is a tough season to qualify into those top 18 making it to the finals and
01:18:56she's done it yeah the level is so high this year you can see an olympic bronze medalist
01:19:01now what's good just making her way over the finish line there she's going to miss out so
01:19:04vicar bearer won't make the final well energy wade who starts in 13th has to settle for 16th
01:19:11place and we're just waiting now for a couple more athletes tomorrow vega is still out there
01:19:18on the running course and that's it because no francesca together dropped out didn't she said
01:19:27there are just 17 athletes in the final so there we go we will uh just see tomorrow vega finishing
01:19:36off this race yeah i'm not sure what went wrong there's usually a quick runner yeah she was she
01:19:42was in the mix wasn't she uh early on in the race but it's not uh been tomorrow vegas competition
01:19:49as she brings herself over the finish line to finish in 17th place
01:19:57yeah congratulations though to andrea medina gonzalez who has qualified
01:20:01for her first ever final and uh yeah really really good competition for the young spanish athlete

01:20:46and it was a fairly confident stuff from guess there her shooting looks good i think it's going
01:20:59to be a battle between gullash and knedchik by the way in super saturday's final kinetic
01:21:04such a quick runner could she be about to pick up her first world cup gold medal cluvel was
01:21:11shooting uh pretty well in that final i think she'll be happy with that as it will have a good
01:21:15laser run as well i mean we followed elodie cluvel for the past three years now and uh
01:21:23just watching her get to that final is uh is i think a relief for all of us i mean she's an
01:21:27olympic silver medalist though she definitely knows how to shoot she she's mastered that skill
01:21:33and uh seeing her in the finals just confirms that she is at the top of her form once again

01:21:44always consistent and solid it was a good battle that between those three
01:21:48gullash song and as it's all at the range there as it's all really poured herself into that battle
01:21:53for the top three i wonder if we'll see as it's all pushing for a medal for this competition
01:21:57she's uh obviously disappointed not to have done well in ankara but she's uh going well here in
01:22:02budapest she's in the final and uh these are all good points for a lot of these athletes as well
01:22:07by the way it could be a could be a shot for an olympic position here by the way the way she's
01:22:11performing this year i think she's a hitting form she reminds me a little bit of michelle
01:22:14gullasch when michelle gullasch broke through and you can see the grimace on sam martin's face
01:22:19and medina i can tell you just how much that means to her she has really really worked hard for that
01:22:25and it's great great scenes gullash is like yeah another final add it to the list yeah just another
01:22:32day in the life for gullasch yep here we go then these are your top nine athletes after the laser
