00:00Luton probably isn't the first thought you have when someone says Monopoly, but last
00:07week the town got its very own edition of the popular board game.
00:21At the Luton Darts station, councillors, charity representatives and local business owners
00:26came together to unveil this very special board.
00:29Among the places featured in the game are Stockwood Park, Luton Airport, Wardown House
00:36and of course, the Kenilworth Road Stadium.
00:38We spoke to the Mayor of Luton to get his thoughts on what he hopes people get from
00:42the game.
00:43I think to react with added pride about what's already great about the town and learn more
00:50about the town and appreciate what sort of fantastic landmarks we have.
00:54And he told us his favourite property.
00:57Tough one.
00:58Perhaps I think Kenilworth Road, but I also like the fact that we've got the Wardown
01:03Museums there, some of the historical buildings we've got in the town centre, the Pocket
01:07Park.
01:08I'm really happy to see that there, yeah.
01:10Good lingo.
01:11Replacing the community chess pieces are Keech Hospice Care, Luton Food Bank and Animals
01:18at Risk Shelter.
01:19Here's what Keech's Melissa Higgins had to say.
01:23To be one of three charities selected to be on the Monopoly board is absolutely fantastic.
01:29Keech has been a pillar of the community for over 30 years.
01:33The fact that we're now on the board game and will be remembered for many, many years
01:39to come, we're so, so pleased.
01:42John Keane Tomlinson, Custom Games Executive from Winning Moves, gave a speech about making
01:47this special project.
01:49So it's been really, really nice to do this research, talk to people and just realise
01:53how proud of Luton the people who live here are.
01:56I know a few people myself, kind of friends who've grown up in the area who always talk
02:01about it and always talk about their time growing up in Luton as well.
02:04So really, really proud to be able to put the game together.
02:07Monopoly Luton Edition can be found in Waterstones or on Amazon.
