So my name is Doug Douglas and I own Avon Valley Adventure Park and we're based just
00:05
outside of Bristol and I spend my life trying to think of crazy new things to entertain
00:11
families in the Bristol area.
00:15
And tell us one of these exciting new things that is happening this spring.
00:21
Well we have a candy cannon which is, as you can imagine, it joins up sweets and a cannon
00:30
and we load a cannon full of sweets and fire it over the kids heads and they flutter down
00:34
and the kids go crazy picking them up.
00:36
So that's one of my bizarre crazy ideas.
00:41
And you have some four-legged friends coming to visit.
00:43
Tell me about that.
00:45
Oh yes, May Bank Holiday, so the 4th of May, is going to be an exciting day.
00:53
So we have Bluey and Bingo coming to the park which is going to be epic.
01:00
Not only have we got Bluey and Bingo, we also run a normal day out.
01:03
So you can ride the train, you can drive mini jeeps, you can see Dino Valley, you can do
01:06
all the other amazing things that we do.
01:09
And during the Bluey and Bingo May weekend, we're going to be doing some dog agility courses.
01:15
So if you think your dog is up for a bit of agility, not quite on the crufts level, but
01:21
let's see, then you can come down and use our dog agility course that we're going to
01:24
put in here.
01:25
So it's going to be really cool.
01:26
And tell us a little bit about your other animals.
01:29
Obviously it's spring, so you've had the birth of some lambs.
01:34
Tell us about that.
01:35
Yeah, so we always do sort of a lambing live event and what we try and do, it takes quite
01:43
a bit of work, is we try and time our ewes to give birth at a particular time, which
01:51
is the school holidays.
01:52
So hopefully we then have a lamb giving birth every day.
01:56
And that worked pretty well for the first week.
01:59
The weather got dreadful and all the lambs just went, get these lambs out of me.
02:05
So they gave birth pretty quickly when it got cold.
02:09
So we've now got a barn full of baby lambs jumping around.
02:13
At the Blue Inbinger weekend, they're going to be out in one of our paddocks because we're
02:16
going to be letting them out.
02:17
And that's really cool to watch lambs getting out into the field, running around.
02:21
We're in a very weird time.
02:23
We're kind of coming out of COVID, but we're very much in the cost of living crisis.
02:28
What will a day out to Avon Valley bring to people in Bristol?
02:33
You can come and just, that is your day.
02:36
So we're really conscious that the cost of living is hitting people and we're trying
02:40
to do everything we can to keep ourselves as flexible as possible.
02:43
The live dinosaurs roaming around the site.
02:45
We basically turned the whole park into this huge, epic Jurassic dino park.
02:51
That's May.
02:52
And then the summer we go crazy with, we've got a massive water slide coming in to the
02:57
end of the park.
02:58
Again, we just go a bit Avon Valley crazy.
