00:05 You've run a couple of pubs in the Black Country. What's life like at the Bear for you in Shropshire?

00:09 Absolutely loving it. It's a beautiful place to live, beautiful people. I just love it here. Really nice place.

00:15 And you get the influx of the tourists on a weekend, is that how it goes?

00:18 Yes, we come for all over the place.

00:20 And it's full of character in there, isn't it? Proper old school, yeah?

00:23 Yes, a mixture of ages, so everyone gets on with everyone, especially in the mornings, you get the characters come in.

00:29 It's never a dull moment.

00:31 And do you live on site as well?

00:33 I do indeed.

00:34 Any tales of ghosts or anything like that?

00:37 No, I have heard over the past there has been a few bits and pieces. I haven't heard these bits and pieces.

00:43 We love all the ghost stories, don't we?

00:45 Are you injured? Do you feel good?

00:47 I personally haven't heard or seen anything. You never know.

00:50 And what's kind of your staple then? Is it just your daily runnings or do you have games on, music and that?

00:56 I can see you've got darts and board and so on, haven't you?

00:59 Yes, we have music nights and a sports bar.

01:02 Every sport that's been on TV.

01:05 You have all the big games on.

01:07 Yes, we have the boxing one as well.

01:09 And a tipple of choice, what's the most popular beer for people coming and drinking at the bear here?

01:14 Here, it would be probably Timothy Taylor or good old Carling.

01:19 Oh, right, okay. Fair dose.

01:25 I'm sitting in the bear garden at the bear.

01:27 It's like a summer's day, isn't it?

01:29 It is like a summer's day and it's very nice.

01:31 What's your name, boss?

01:33 My name's Billy.

01:34 Billy, so originally from London. We can pick that up.

01:36 Originally from South West London, we wouldn't.

01:38 Hey, you're a Shropshire man now, though.

01:40 I'm a Shropshire man now. Fell in love with place back in 1987.

01:44 And I've actually been coming here every year since 1987.

01:49 And now I've decided to relocate and I've moved to a place called Highleach just down the road, about 14 miles, well 7 miles away.

01:58 You discovered it by your fishing days, yeah?

02:01 I've discovered it by my fishing days and been travelling around.

02:06 I like the history of Shropshire.

02:09 I go to the plough in the Weir Forest, the Wyre Forest, all the churches and the Cliff Railway. It's absolutely beautiful up here.

02:20 Yeah, it's cracking, isn't it?

02:21 And I saw one just over the road, didn't it?

02:22 What have you got to say about the bear, then? It's a proper old school boozer, is it?

02:25 It's an old school boozer, backlight as it was.

02:27 It's like walking back in time, really.

02:31 You can meet some very nice old chaps in here and young chaps as well.

02:35 And they all care about the pub.

02:37 It's really good beer here.

02:39 They have good venues, parties and stuff like that.

02:45 Self-catering, so you bring your own stuff in.

02:49 But the beer's really good, and really good prices.

02:53 Nice one.
