Sadiq Khan Urges Londoners To Take Advantage Of Off-peak Tube And Train Fare Deal
Transcript
00:00 One of the great news is we reached a deal with the rail delivery group, with the DFT,
00:04 and so the three-month trial begins today. I saved 70p, so I'm happy. But you've seen,
00:10 people are becoming aware now about the scheme. I suspect today won't be the numbers we'd like to
00:15 see, but as word spreads, there's off-peak Friday. I think more and more Londoners will be,
00:20 you know, coming in on Friday. So what we do know is even before the pandemic,
00:24 few people use public transport on a Friday. What we're trying to do though is to compare
00:30 Friday's post-pandemic with before pandemic. And we see there's a big dip around 73%
00:34 post-pandemic versus pre-pandemic. We know we've encouraged people back during the rest of the
00:39 week. Weekends, it's around 100%, sometimes north of 100% versus pre-pandemic. Monday to Thursday,
00:46 85% and higher. Friday's lower. What we'll be analysing and assessing is those Zone 1,
00:53 Zone 2 stations on a Friday, now versus before the trial, but also other days of the week,
00:58 pan-London as well. For example, does it lead to people's journey patterns changing on other days
01:04 of the week? Well, our three-month trial will assess what the results of those three-month
01:09 trials is and we'll see, hopefully, people are coming back on a Friday.
01:12 it.
