00:00 Good afternoon. It'll be a dry and bright afternoon for some of us. However, some
00:04 wet weather is due to arrive for many southern and central areas through the
00:09 weekend. That says the high pressure that's brought us this fine week so far
00:13 will retreat away to Scandinavia through today, allowing low pressure to arrive
00:17 up into the southwest. That's got a series of weather fronts wrapped around
00:21 it. Those will bring the focus for any particularly heavy rainfall through the
00:25 weekend. Further north and east though, we've still got this brisk easterly
00:28 breeze, so it's staying much cloudier across eastern areas of Scotland,
00:32 northeastern England as well. There's been some drizzly rain so far today. It
00:35 should be a bit of a drier afternoon, but it will stay fairly cloudy. Further south
00:39 and east though, where it was quite a cloudy day yesterday, it's got drier air here, so it
00:43 will be a brighter afternoon. However, we've got a fairly brisk easterly breeze,
00:48 so it's going to feel quite chilly out there. However, in any sheltered sunshine,
00:52 particularly across western areas of Wales, western areas of Scotland, it will
00:56 still feel fairly pleasant. Cloud will thicken this evening across southern
01:00 areas as the showery rain starts to arrive into parts of Cornwall and
01:04 South Devon. Further north though, it should stay dry, but it will be quite a
01:08 cloudy and a breezy night. That will limit any frost forming to just the
01:12 clearest skies in any sheltered glens of northwest Scotland. However, further south
01:17 across central areas of England, much of the south coast as well, there's a risk
01:21 of some showery rain to start the weekend. And it will still feel fairly
01:25 chilly. The winds stay quite strong, particularly across northern areas of
01:29 the UK through Saturday. It's still easterly direction, so it will bring that
01:32 chillier feel. The winds could be quite gusty over the higher ground of Scotland,
01:36 where we do have the best of any drier and brighter weather. It will turn cloudy
01:40 across parts of Northern Ireland and Northern England for a time. Rain will be
01:43 fairly patchy and limited, but it certainly will be cloudier than it has
01:47 been through today. Further south, there will be some sunny breaks, particularly
01:51 around lunchtime, but those sunny breaks will allow showers to start to develop.
01:55 Those showers could turn quite heavy as well, so you need to keep an eye on those
01:59 through the next few days. But in any of those sunnier breaks, it's not going to
02:02 feel too bad. Highs of around 12 or 13 degrees. But as I said, the winds are still
02:07 fairly strong through Saturday. That low pressure will continue to push
02:12 weather fronts further north through Sunday, so more areas will see that
02:15 cloudier, wetter weather. However, it should stay largely dry and bright
02:19 across western areas of Scotland on Sunday. So there are some showers to
02:23 dodge, so it's worth keeping up to date with the forecast over the next few days.
