00:00 Good afternoon, my name is Chief Inspector Vicks Haven-Meelan. I'll now read a statement
00:06 before I won't be taking any additional questions at this time. I want to provide you with an
00:11 update on our ongoing investigation into the deaths of three young children in a property
00:17 in Blaiswell, Seymour, at the weekend. Earlier today, the children's next of kin completed
00:24 a formal identification process and we can confirm the children are seven-year-old Faris
00:31 Bash, three-year-old Juri Bash and nine-month-old Mohamed Bash. They were all siblings. The
00:40 loss of such young children who had their whole lives ahead of them is truly heartbreaking
00:46 and our thoughts remain with the family and everyone affected by this tragedy. Our specialist
00:53 liaison officers will continue to provide their next of kin with any help and support
00:57 that they may need. Over the past few days, forensic post-mortem examinations have been
01:03 carried out on the children. We can now confirm that the cause of death for each child was
01:10 night blood release. A 42-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of their murder remains in hospital
01:17 undergoing treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The amount of time we can legally
01:22 keep a person in custody does not start until they are brought into a police station, so
01:27 it will not include any periods of time expected in hospital. Our investigation led by the
01:33 major crime investigation team is progressing at pace and we're carrying out comprehensive
01:38 inquiries to establish the events that led to this devastating loss of life. The main
01:44 cordons put in place on Blaiswalk have now been lifted and we would like to take this
01:49 opportunity to thank local residents for their patience and support while we have carried
01:54 out a thorough investigation on this incident. There has been a huge outpouring of care and
02:00 kindness following this incident from the community, local schools as well as from faith
02:06 leaders. We remain sincerely thankful to those who provided a safe place for people to gather.
02:14 As of the intense sadness, we've seen the community come together in grief and this
02:19 is evidenced by the large amount of floral tributes and messages brought to the fore-doors
02:24 which officers from the neighbourhood policing team have been placing outside the door. Our
02:29 work to reassure and support the community will continue and neighbourhood officers will
02:34 be in attendance at a vigil due to be held later today. We will also have a mobile police
02:39 station in the square on Sea Mills this Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 2pm, so please do
02:46 keep stopping by to talk to us. We will provide any and further updates in due course when
02:51 we're able to. Thank you.
02:53 You know.
