00:00 Mother's Day is coming up on Sunday the 10th of March and people around the
00:04 country will be celebrating the mothers in their lives. It falls on different
00:08 days in many parts of the world but most commonly in March and May. For some
00:13 Mother's Day is an ideal celebration to honor family, motherhood, maternal bonds
00:17 and the influence of mothers in society but for others the day isn't quite as
00:21 important. We asked people in Manchester about their thoughts on Mother's Day.
00:26 Yeah I've got three children. Mother's Day is a big day for me and it's just a
00:33 big day to think about what your mum has done for you. As a mother yourself
00:41 you kind of you start to realize everything that's involved. You rarely
00:45 have much time to yourself so I think a little bit of time that you could give
00:50 your mother a treat or just give her a little bit time or just give a little
00:53 bit of space and that's that's really important. I think you say you don't mind
00:58 like you're not too fussed so I don't think we really do much but some like
01:03 little bits. Yeah I agree I mean I think about it for my mum but I'm not
01:10 interested in the kind of commercial aspect so it's just a little a day of
01:15 niceness but it doesn't have to be a big thing it's not a big issue and you could
01:19 do it a week late or a week early and I wouldn't mind. I think we do like little bits but it's not we don't make it a big thing.
01:29 A card and maybe a little bunch of daffodils. Yeah yeah. We'll make me a cup of tea.

01:41 Yeah maybe yeah. Yes of course so what we do is that usually we try to find out the
01:48 best gift for our mother and then we celebrate it together at her place and
01:55 yes it's an important day to spend time together and have a good time. I think
02:00 there's quite a lot of commercial days Valentine's, Mother's Day, Father's Day
02:03 etc you know it's nice like if my daughter got me a card or some
02:09 flowers from my grandchildren but I wouldn't really be that upset because I
02:12 think there's like too many holidays and people you know some people are
02:16 struggling so they can't always afford to be getting cards all the time and
02:20 presents. Yeah especially for me I'm not my mum lives in Manchester I'm in the
02:25 US so try and make the most of it and this we're going back actually the day
02:29 before Mother's Day so we're gonna have an early Mother's Day with her so yeah
02:35 pretty important to me. Oh my gosh yeah my mum loves Mother's Day I think all
02:39 mums love Mother's Day it's good excuse for brunch and flowers and all that good
02:43 stuff so yeah.
