Local artist Mollie Ray talks about creating a mural to refresh the tired and outdated children's area of Lancaster library.

00:00 Hi, I'm Molly Ray. I'm a Lancaster-based comic artist and illustrator.

00:05 My debut graphic novel, Giant, comes out this year with Faber and Faber.

00:10 I'm very excited to be involved with this new project with the local library

00:15 to create a socially inclusive, attractive environment in the children's library.

00:21 The idea for the project is to create three murals in the shape of the existing windows

00:27 so that when you go into the space, you're not just looking out the windows at Lancaster,

00:31 but you're also looking through these new windows into Lancaster history.

00:37 And the idea is to create a space that celebrates Lancaster history,

00:43 but also creates a welcoming environment so that new people and local people can come in

00:53 and see their history celebrated in their local library.
