00:00 So, Onigasa made it through to the FA Cup quarter finals after a penalty shootout win
00:05 over Blackburn Rovers. It was a night that Onigasa made very difficult for themselves
00:09 as truth be known. They took a 1-0 lead in the second half through Anthony Gordon but
00:13 really they should have been down the half time. Blackburn were brilliant in the first
00:17 half. They really showed that they had a well drilled plan and Martin Debreke made a few
00:24 saves in the first half compared to Onigasa who didn't test A&Z pairs at all in that
00:27 first period. We've seen with Nottingham Forest, Edmund Boxing, Bournemouth, Luton more recently
00:33 that if a team can come with a solid plan, be good defensively against Onigasa, then
00:37 they can really cause some problems and they did that today. Blackburn were very good.
00:40 Sammy Smodic, he was very good up front and probably should have put them ahead in the
00:45 first half. Onigasa were, as I said, lucky to go into the break for the first 45 level
00:50 and then you think, right, this is the time for Onigasa to really stamp their authority
00:53 on the game, show why they are the Premier League team. They can't really say that Onigasa
00:58 didn't control the game because they did. They had lots of possession, lots of the ball
01:01 but Blackburn probably had the better chances, especially in that first half. But then they
01:06 get the lead through Anthony Gordon. It was a well worked goal. Armouron passed it across
01:10 to Gordon. Gordon just swept it home and it was a great finish. To be fair, at that point
01:12 you think Onigasa have got themselves ahead, maybe not deserved, but they've got themselves
01:16 ahead. They're going to press on and they're going to do something this game. That didn't
01:19 happen. Blackburn, to be fair, to their credit, didn't let them do that. Blackburn were really
01:22 good and they deservedly got an equaliser. Poor mistake from Jamala Sells. Dubravka made
01:28 a great save initially but then Smodic was there to tap the ball home and then all of
01:33 a sudden Onigasa's good work is undone and they have to go into the last 10 minute level
01:37 and really deservely so from the home side. I can't give them enough credit. They were
01:41 brilliant and then you think, right, Onigasa, again, you think this is the time to press
01:46 home advantage and they simply didn't. They dominated extra time, possession wise, you
01:51 can't deny that, but they couldn't make their possession count. Onigasa really should have
01:57 scored in extra time. First Bruno has a shot blocked off the line and then Barnes can't
02:01 follow it up and there was a couple of really big missed chances from Onigasa throughout
02:05 the game which would be a bit of a worry for Eddie Howe. But they got penalties but it's
02:12 a lot easier to lorry penalties. I keep saying 'but' a lot because I feel like what the story
02:15 of is Onigasa do something well but this happens and it was like one step forward, two steps
02:19 back and then you think Onigasa's night. We've been here so many times, Onigasa fans, journalists,
02:26 anyone surrounding the club who's supported them for a while will know what happens in
02:29 Onigasa night in penalty shoot-outs. We all remember the Chelsea game not too long ago.
02:33 We all know what happens when Onigasa feel like they should win a cup tie, especially
02:36 Eddie Will Park. But fortunately, this time, the lottery was on their side and they won
02:41 the game and it was up purely down to Martin Dubravka. He made two really good saves, especially
02:46 the last one that tipped it on the board so it was a brilliant stop. Harvey Barnes, the
02:49 only one to miss from Newcastle. That was a weak penalty but Fabian Schรคr, he set the
02:54 tone with his early penalty, it was brilliant. Bruno Guimaraes, he scored his penalty. Harvey
02:59 Barnes missed his second one so Bruno Guimaraes scored his penalty. Eli Andersson scored his
03:03 penalty and Anthony Gordon, like he did against Bournemouth, just took his penalty and scored
03:07 it. They were really good penalties from Newcastle to be fair. And yeah, they progressed through
03:12 to the FA Cup quarter-final. I mean, one and one's their cup game. The result is the only
03:16 thing that matters and in truth that is true. The result is the only thing that matters
03:19 right now in Newcastle. You know, whatever happens in the performance, the book will
03:23 say they're through to the next round. But it was another night where fans here, fans
03:28 watching at home and Eddie how we'll have lots of things to worry about because they
03:31 weren't at their best. They weren't brilliant. Blackburn really, really played very well
03:35 and nullified them and countered and attacked well. Now with Wolves at the weekend, that's
03:40 a massive game. Wolves have left Frog Newcastle on the table. If Wolves sneak a win there,
03:45 it's in James Park, which no more for us in James Park. Teams are finding it easy to play
03:50 there at the minute. Then Newcastle are looking very dangerous. But the one thing they can't
03:53 say is they are in the FA Cup quarter-final and with Coventry City already through, there
03:58 is a potential for a lower league team. Obviously, the Wednesday game is still to come. There
04:02 could be a couple of shots. But yeah, I want to reflect on from Eddie how but realists,
04:07 you've got two ways of looking at it. One, Newcastle are through to the FA Cup quarter-final.
04:11 Job done. If you'd said that before, before Newcastle kicked off, you would have took
04:16 that. Is their performance a bit of a worry? Possibly. Is the manner of how open they are
04:20 and how many chances people can play really easily against them? If you just defend well,
04:25 you get to look very limited in attack. And if you can take a counter well, the speed
04:30 of the defence can get at. So it's another one that Eddie will reflect on, fans will
04:35 reflect on. Is it a worry? Yes. Are Newcastle through to the next round? Yes. That seems
04:39 to be the message of the day. Cup games are sometimes not about the performance, it's
04:43 simply about the result. The performance will be worrying but at the end of the day, the
04:46 result is all that matters. Newcastle United are through to the FA Cup quarter-finals with
04:50 a penalty shoot-out victory over Blackburn Rovers.
