A major snowstorm will arrive late Monday night across the Mid-Atlantic and New England in what some meteorologists say could be the “storm of the season.”

The Nor’easter will begin as rain before changing into moderate to heavy snow in New York City, while other metro areas like Boston could see up to 12 inches of snow—or more.

00:00 We're expecting snow across the city tonight and into tomorrow. The current forecast calls for
00:06 light rain beginning around midnight and transitioning to snow tomorrow morning.
00:12 We expect at least five to eight inches now. We could get more as the forecast continue to shift.
00:20 We will continue to notify New Yorkers. It's going to be low visibility, high wind gusts,
00:27 ending by early afternoon, as well as up to two feet of coastal flooding along vulnerable
00:35 shorelines. We're taking this storm extremely, extremely serious. We want New Yorkers to be
00:43 prepared and we want New Yorkers to do the same. We expect slippery roads and limited visibility.
00:52 And so we're strongly encouraging New Yorkers, if you don't have to go out, stay home.
00:57 And please use public transportation. We want to minimize the number of vehicles on the road
01:03 so that our apparatus and vehicles can actually deal with the removal of snow and make our
01:11 movement in the city more feasible. They're ready, they're prepared, and the Commissioner
01:17 is going to coordinate their efforts with our other city agencies. And so we're doing everything
01:21 in our powers to keep New Yorkers safe. We want New Yorkers to do everything in their powers to
01:26 continue to be safe by again staying off the road and signing up for NotifyNYC to keep update on
01:36 winter weather.
