00:00 The official release of Grounded 1.0 is here, and it brings with it a whole load of new
00:04 story quests, enemies, and areas to explore.
00:07 One of those areas, the main area, is the upper yard and the attached shed, and there
00:11 are a few different ways to get there.
00:13 Some are easier than others, so take stock of how good your gear is and brush up on your
00:17 parkour skills as we guide you to getting into the upper yard.
00:20 There are two proper routes into the upper yard, and a third option for cunning players.
00:24 We'll lay them all out here, or you can use the chapter markers to jump to the one
00:28 you want.
00:30 First up, it's the western route to the upper yard, which is kind of the proper one.
00:34 Handily named the "Upper Yard Ascent", it is marked on the map here, and an explosive
00:38 will clear the rock that blocks the gap permanently.
00:41 That doesn't really get you there though, there's still a little further to go before
00:44 you're in the upper yard proper.
00:46 Once up the ascent, you need to head west, and through the ashy wasteland left by the
00:50 spilled barbecue, but be careful.
00:52 This area is full of prowling wolf spiders, two at least.
00:56 Not to mention the leftover coals create a heat effect that can damage you.
01:00 Antlion armour and the quesadiantlion meal will reduce this effect substantially (you
01:05 can get both of those back in the sandbox if you need them) and allow you to gather
01:09 some of the special charcoal, used for both weapons, tools and structures, though you'll
01:13 need a tier 2 busting tool to crack them open.
01:16 Either way, climb up the spilled ash and you'll be in the upper yard, south of the sheds.
01:21 The east route to the upper yard is shorter, but less reliable and barely safer.
01:27 Head from the northern hedge to the wall blocking you off, and there'll be a lab door set
01:30 into it.
01:31 You can go up there to reveal a tunnel that'll take you to the next level.
01:35 You haven't reached the upper yard yet, but you're nearly there.
01:39 Head forwards and there'll be a grassy area full of orbweaver spiders until you reach
01:42 the wall ahead.
01:44 This is where things get tricky, because this isn't technically an official route, but
01:47 it is absolutely a way you can reach the upper yard.
01:50 The grass that grows here often grows in such a way that you can jump up and parkour across
01:55 onto the next step up, but you're ultimately relying on the good fortune of the game engine
02:00 here, plus it might take you a few attempts, and each time you fall you risk getting mauled
02:04 by spiders.
02:05 However, if you do make it, basically just keep going north, hugging the left hand wall
02:10 past the castle mauled orc playset toy.
02:14 You're technically in the upper yard already, so be careful.
02:18 This is a dangerous area and there's going to be tiger mosquitoes, ticks, and even a
02:22 prowling black widow and her spiderlings around if you go under the rocks near the garden
02:27 fence.
02:28 This is one of those no right answer situations, as if you're building your own path you
02:33 can basically do it anywhere.
02:35 We recommend somewhere obviously with as few enemies as possible, and close to any existing
02:39 bases you have for an easy commute.
02:41 There's a few villainous bugs around, but try the northwest corner of the pond as a
02:45 good starting point.
02:46 You'll need grass and materials to build, so you can't really go too remote, but it's
02:50 a good option.
02:51 From there work on stairs, trampolines, ladders, and whatever else you have unlocked.
02:56 Getting up is all that matters, because getting down is easy if you have a dandelion tuft.
03:00 So build yourself a reasonably structurally sound path, and make sure to prod it with
03:04 a repair tool every now and again to make sure it holds up.
03:08 Having some friends aid you with multiplayer will make it even more efficient as a building
03:12 process.
03:13 And at this point you have the upper yard to conquer.
03:16 Good luck!
03:17 You'll need it.
