00:00 Hello there, welcome to your latest update from the Met Office. I hope you enjoyed your
00:04 weekend. There was a mixed bag of weather across the UK, some mist, fog, some of a sunny
00:09 spells in places, though rain clearing its way off north-eastern areas during Sunday.
00:14 Further towards the west though we start to see showers pushing their way in and these
00:18 showers are drifting in on westerly winds that are setting their self up as low pressure
00:22 just orientates itself to the north of the UK. Wind circling in an anti-clockwise direction
00:26 around this means those westerly winds are starting to stream their way in, a bit more
00:30 of a polar influence to our weather. So quite frequent showers for some western districts
00:34 during Sunday evening and overnight. Those further towards the east probably staying
00:38 a touch drier with a good number of clear intervals in there though for the far north-east
00:42 Shetland that rain is going to be very persistent throughout on a very wet night here. Underneath
00:46 the clear spells we do have though temperatures will begin to drop their way off so low single
00:51 figures even in a lot of our towns and cities, rural areas could see Apache frost in places
00:56 we may also see some icy stretches around first thing on Monday morning so just worth
01:00 bearing in mind when you do step out in the morning. The day itself on Monday though really
01:05 is one of sunshine and showers across the UK. The showers will always be most frequent
01:09 for northern and western areas, they'll be falling as snow over the higher ground areas
01:14 of Scotland even over the mountains of Northern Ireland and the Pennines as well. Those of
01:17 you further towards the east and the south more likely to stay dry throughout a good
01:21 portion of the day turning into quite a pleasant start to the new working week with a good
01:26 number of sunny intervals in there. Temperatures ranging between 6 and 11 degrees Celsius which
01:30 is just around where we'd expect them to be for this time of the year but probably feeling
01:35 quite cold for Northern Ireland, south-western areas of Scotland where we do have some very
01:38 blustery winds associated with the showers here. Those stronger winds will transfer their
01:43 way northwards during Monday evening and overnight so some gales around coastal areas of Scotland
01:48 during the night. Some more organised bands of showers just sweeping their way across
01:52 the UK during the night as well but retaining those clear skies for many of us as well.
01:58 So temperatures will just drop off a touch more once again. Patchy frost is possible
02:02 in places as we start off Tuesday morning as well, maybe even across northern areas
02:06 of Scotland some of our towns and cities will be close to freezing as well. In the far south
02:11 though, south Wales, southern areas of England we could just see temperatures hot off a touch
02:15 more compared to the night before and that is because we're starting to see this cloud
02:20 rain sweep its way in from the south-west. This system is all associated with an area
02:25 of low pressure that is slowly drifting its way towards the UK from the Atlantic. Wrapped
02:29 up in all of this though is some milder weather and that's going to start arriving across
02:34 the UK as we head throughout Tuesday. Before that though it is a reasonably fine start
02:40 to the day for many of us. Showers persisting though for northern areas of Scotland in particular,
02:44 some very blustery winds here but a decent amount of sunshine for Northern Ireland, Wales
02:48 and England. But this cloud will thicken during the day and into the afternoon those outbreaks
02:52 of rain will arrive for south-west England and Wales into areas of Northern Ireland as
02:56 well. Turning breezier with the winds picking up once more but those winds are starting
03:00 to feed in that milder air from the south-west. So temperatures will be climbing to 12 degrees
03:05 Celsius in a few spots further towards the north and east still holding onto single figures
03:10 for now but as that area of low pressure continues to arrive the milder air will continue to
03:16 sweep its way north-eastwards. And by Wednesday many of us could see temperatures around double
03:21 digit figures maybe even mid-teens for some of us. That does though come with quite cloudy
03:26 skies across many areas and further outbreaks of rain in there as well. We'll keep you up
03:32 to date on all the latest details as we do head towards the middle of the week though
03:35 so make sure you're subscribing to the YouTube channel for those updates and we'll see you
03:39 again here very soon. Bye bye.
