00:00 In the past the palace was always very reticent to tell us anything about any form of illness
00:04 and indeed of course anything to do with cancer was never spoken about even amongst ordinary people
00:10 it was a kind of the forbidden word. So the king and his advisors have been very open with this.
00:15 I think we've all had a bit of a shock this week because and I think we all feel very sorry for
00:21 the king that just as he's getting into his stride as a head of state suddenly he has this illness.
00:28 Well one of the things when the queen was in lockdown we saw a lot of her actually although
00:33 we didn't see her in person we saw her on zooms and so we knew she was still fulfilling her duties
00:38 as head of state and then of course in the last year when she had to cancel quite a lot of things
00:43 we saw the then prince Charles stepping in on her behalf and in a sense we saw a transition.
00:51 We're not talking about transition at this point of course but while he is out of action and while
00:56 he is having his treatment the other members of the royal family can help him enormously
01:01 and I think really that's what it's all about.
