00:06 How long have you been working on Gypsy's Brew and what's the background been?
00:12 So we started it, we met in lockdown, we were neighbours, so we met in lockdown, fell in love, I got made redundant due to Covid,
00:22 Rhiannon's dad owned this beautiful van that was just his stories through nothing, we spent a lot of time on the Bald Hills Park with our dog Gypsy,
00:31 and our little boy, it was our dream to be part of our community and service our community and we had the van on the Bald Hills.
00:41 So when did you start?
00:43 August 21st, so a year and a half, well two and a half years ago.
00:47 And how long is it that you were working on the Bald Hills at the entrance to the Bald Hills Park?
00:52 Probably consistently about 18 months, a year and a half, like consistently, and then we used to come back for odd weekends in between events as well.
01:01 And what made you decide to call it a day?
01:06 It's hard times, we started a start-up business after a global pandemic, there's cost of living crisis, also just some family stuff that has made it almost impossible to carry on really.
01:22 So it is really sad, but we've been in tears today quite a lot, we've met so many beautiful people in our local community and beyond.
01:35 We've made incredible connections and just memories that will last forever and we've had an adventure,
01:44 and I know that more adventures are possible now and we've managed to spend loads of time together and with our family.
01:52 Our mission statement was to spread a little joy and magic wasn't it, with every brew,
01:58 and we've just been overwhelmed with the comments and people that have come out in the rain and gifts and yeah, and I think we've achieved that.
02:07 Thank you all.
02:08 What's the plan now?
02:10 She's out she won't be.
02:12 The CEO.
02:14 What's the plan now, what are you looking to do now?
02:17 I'm a nurse so hopefully I will go back to nursing, I teach yoga, so I'll be teaching yoga but of course I'll get a proper job too.
02:26 Do you hope ever to bring Gypsy's Brew back in the future?
02:31 Yeah, I think what it's taught us is that to start a business you probably need a little bit more capital behind you these days than you have,
02:39 because the current climate is just so unpredictable and we unfortunately didn't have that cushion for a lot of the unpredictability that goes with it.
02:47 And the weather.
02:48 And the weather.
02:49 We would probably be indoors if we brought Gypsy's Brew back.
02:52 1973 vintage van with Hilly Sheffield comes with its own challenges.
02:58 Yeah, we'd love to bring Gypsy's Brew back and we'd love it as a wellness community space where we offer meditation, yoga and a cafe.
03:07 Just a safe space for people and that's what we've enjoyed.
03:10 Our beautiful community here that have donated to our Pay It Forward initiative where they've bought coffees and paid to other people who can't afford it.
03:18 This community in Crookes is like nowhere. It's a little urban village and it's just a joy, isn't it?
03:24 Yeah, we're very happy.
03:27 Could you tell me how much you're going to miss Gypsy's Brew?
03:29 I'm going to miss them loads. They've been fantastic friends.
03:33 They make a lovely cup of coffee and they've been here through lockdown when I've been having problems.
03:39 There's been someone to talk to and I will miss their funky little van as well.
03:44 But I'm sure they'll make something special happen in their lives over their due next.
