Sheffield Wednesday joint-administrator Kris Wigfield discusses the eventual next steps on the sale of the club
Transcript
00:00We've got lots of interested parties that are already contacting us, as I said, so next week we'll start speaking to them properly
00:05and we'll put a proper sales process in place so they'll all understand exactly what the situation is.
00:12There'll be an information pack that will basically go to all of them so they've all got the relevant information.
00:17Obviously in order to get that they'll have to sign non-disclosure agreements, etc.
00:22and we'll have to be satisfied that it's a genuine party that could actually buy the club.
00:27But once they've got through those preliminary checks, then they'll be given the information, they'll be told how to make offers
00:32and we'll start inviting offers but also we'll start marketing it so that we reach everybody.
00:39There might be interested parties out there that aren't aware yet of what the situation is
00:45or they're not aware that the club's gone into administration, particularly people that obviously aren't based in the UK.
00:50How is a party chosen? Do you vet them? Is it a case of just the biggest wallet?
00:59No, we do vet them. We look at two things initially.
01:08Are they going to get past the EFL fit and proper test?
01:11If they're not going to get past the EFL fit and proper test, then quite frankly we're wasting our time speaking to them.
01:16And two, can they satisfy us that they will be able to make the club viable?
01:22Once they satisfy those two criteria, then it's a case of accepting the best offer.
01:29Our duty is to maximise realisations for the benefit of creditors.
01:33So the best offer might not necessarily be the highest offer.
01:37For instance, if the highest offer comes with lots of conditions attached.
01:43But yeah, it's our job to find the best offer.
01:46So that doesn't necessarily mean it will be the best funded person.
01:49However, it will be somebody that we're satisfied is going to get past the EFL fit and proper
01:52and we're satisfied that can prove that the club is viable.
01:55So that's why we're not going to get past the EFL fit and proper test for the EFL fit and proper test for the EFL fit and proper test for the EFL fit.
