The Royal Malaysian Navy will be better equipped to deal with maritime security issues such as cross-border crimes, piracy and entry of illegal immigrants after the delivery of four fast interceptor craft (FICs) on Friday (Feb 2).

00:31 These fast interceptor crafts are part of a total 13 fast interceptor crafts guarding
00:37 marine is required to deliver to the Royal Malaysian Navy, with the remaining craft to
00:41 be delivered in two phases.
00:43 Navy Chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Ayob received the first batch from guarding marine
00:48 managing director Datuk Jamalulail Muhammad Yatim.
00:52 The fast interceptor craft, known as the G2000MK2, were fully constructed at guarding marine
00:58 shipyard at the Lumut Port Industrial in Sitiawan, Perak.
01:02 This first batch of boats will be deployed at the Naval Region 2 Base in Sandakan.
01:07 Abdul Rahman said the vessel's configuration has also been upgraded, allowing more comfort
01:12 to the crew during operations.
01:14 He also said the role of the fast interceptor craft is to support the Navy's maritime defence
01:19 efforts, improving monitoring capabilities as well as interceptions, especially in waters
01:24 that are shallow and with many islands.
