Japan lands spacecraft on the moon

Japan's unmanned spacecraft made a soft landing on the moon, making it the fifth country to do so. However, officials are assessing if the Smart Lander for Investigating Moon (SLIM) met its goal of a precise landing, as they noted a solar panel failure that may limit its activity on the lunar surface.
