00:00 Fujitsu Europe director Paul Paterson has twice this week been grilled concerning the
00:07 Post Office Horizon IT scandal. On January 16th, Mr Paterson appeared before MPs as he
00:12 told the Business and Trade Committee to the sub-postmasters and their families. Fujitsu
00:17 would like to apologise for our part in this appalling miscarriage of justice. He then
00:21 went on to say, "We were involved from the very start. We did have bugs and errors in
00:26 the system and we did help the Post Office in their prosecutions of sub-postmasters.
00:31 For that we are truly sorry." On January 19th, the director gave evidence at a Post Office
00:36 inquiry hearing at London's Aldwych House. Here, he confirmed that one of the bugs in
00:40 the IT system existed for six years, despite Fujitsu knowing about it. Paterson said these
00:45 bugs were "well known of all parties." He then promised to engage with government regarding
00:51 compensation for Horizon victims. The government last week announced a new law to swiftly exonerate
00:57 and compensate victims.
