00:00 Hello again. Whilst for many it's going to be another sunny but cold day, across the
00:05 north we've already seen some significant snow feeding its way in. Starting off looking
00:09 at the precipitation type composite from earlier today and there's been some heavy snow across
00:13 parts of Northern Ireland into North West England, also some parts of Southern Scotland
00:18 with another swathe of snow making its way in across parts of Northern and North Western
00:22 Scotland already. As we go through the afternoon we are going to see much of the snow turning
00:27 to rain across parts of Northern Ireland but further outbreaks of heavy snow, perhaps some
00:31 sleet and rain mixed in with this across parts of Northern England could lead to some significant
00:36 disruption here and that swathe of snow across the North West of Scotland I mentioned gradually
00:41 making its way south eastwards but also this could lead to some significant accumulations
00:45 more than 10cm perhaps even to some lower levels. There's a chance we may need to escalate
00:50 our yellow warnings to amber in some places so do stay up to date. Further south across
00:55 much of central southern England and Wales lots of fine sunny weather but it is going
01:00 to be cold, temperatures only a few degrees above freezing though the mostly sunny picture
01:05 and light winds here should offset that cold feel to things. Further north a different
01:09 story, quite a grey picture and with the snow around it is going to feel quite cold especially
01:13 when you factor in the strong winds which will lead to quite a significant wind chill.
01:18 Later on today we are going to see most of the outbreaks of rain, sleet or snow feeding
01:21 their way further eastwards and clearing away but some push a little bit further southwards
01:25 so likely to see some into more central parts of England and into parts of Wales as we go
01:30 through the early hours though it does ease as we go overnight as well. Staying mostly
01:34 dry towards the south though quite cloudy and so here we are not going to see too much
01:38 of a frost though we are likely to see some temperatures dropping a little bit below freezing
01:43 in some places so a bit of a frost here, a more widespread harsh frost further north
01:47 with some clearer skies as the worst of the rain pushes its way southwards so temperatures
01:52 really dropping further north and in fact where we have a lying snow we could see temperatures
01:56 falling into negative double figures perhaps as low as -15 Celsius so a very cold start,
02:01 a harsh frost and watch out for some icy patches first thing on Wednesday morning as well.
02:06 Also snow showers across northern parts of Scotland, these will continue as we go through
02:10 Wednesday, some snow showers perhaps for Northern Ireland too. Elsewhere and it is a largely
02:14 dry day, there is likely to be quite a bit of cloud first thing in the south but that
02:18 will clear away and so it should turn increasingly sunny here and the system which had the potential
02:23 to bring some significant snow to southern areas on Wednesday does now look likely to
02:27 stay to the south of us so for many it is going to stay dry but cold temperatures again
02:32 only a few degrees above freezing, some places staying below freezing so very cold feel to
02:37 things despite the fact that there will be quite a bit of winter sunshine around. As
02:41 we go later in the week and we are going to continue with that northerly wind that's going
02:45 to bring more snow showers particularly to northern parts as we go through Thursday but
02:49 perhaps some western and eastern coastal areas could see some flurries for a time too. Then
02:54 into Friday and we have two features really, high pressure dominating in the south meaning
02:58 it's largely fine here but a system affecting northern areas could bring some more significant
03:03 snow for a time and then into the weekend there's likely to be the change to something
03:07 milder temperatures really do look set to rise but with that there's the potential for
03:12 some wet and possibly even stormy weather as well. Annie will have more information
03:17 on the change from cold to unsettled this week in our deep dive which will be available
03:21 on our YouTube channel later this afternoon otherwise I'll see you again soon. Bye bye.
