Birmingham headlines 15 January: Man suffers life threatening injuries in Belgrave Middleway hit-and-run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man suffered life threatening injuries following a collision on the Belgrave Middleway on Saturday night. Officers were called to the junction on Highgate Road at 6:30pm. The vehicle involved fled the scene. Two men have been arrested.

A mum who overdosed her child on paracetamol and codeine, leaving them in need of a liver transplant, has been jailed. The woman, who cannot be named, was jailed for 12 years after being found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

The Arcadian has been allowed to reopen with conditions following an alleged shooting last month. Two were reportedly left in hospital with gunshot injuries following the incident in December. The suspension has been lifted after conditions were agreed between the venue and police.
