00:00 For its second consecutive year, the Tamworth Tap here in Tamworth has been given the much
00:05 envied accolade of National Pub of the Year by the Campaign for Real Ale.
00:10 I'm here today to take a look at the place and find out some of the secrets behind its
00:15 success.
00:16 Yeah, I don't think there's a secret.
00:21 There's a lot of hard work gone in.
00:22 There's that continual improvement, even just one off little bits, but daily improvements
00:32 and attention to detail really.
00:34 The Tamworth Tap once again celebrates winning Canberra's prestigious National Pub of the
00:39 Year award for its second year running.
00:41 An extraordinary feat for a pub that has been open a mere six years.
00:46 So we opened six years ago.
00:49 It was actually an empty shop and we started just brewing.
00:54 It was never intended to be a pub originally.
00:58 And we did a pop-up just to sell the beer that we brewed and extended it another day
01:04 and another day to the point where we went away from a temporary events license to a
01:11 full premises license and haven't closed the door since.
01:16 From its humble beginnings, the Tamworth Tap has seamlessly woven itself into the tapestry
01:21 of the local community, providing an enduring atmosphere, resonating strongly with those
01:28 who walk through its doors.
01:30 I think we offer something unique, certainly to Real Ale drinkers around as well.
01:35 As I say, just going back to that sort of attention to detail, it's really making their
01:38 trip memorable combined with the excellent service that our team provide.
01:44 Great beers, great atmosphere, but that attracts a really nice sort of discerning drinker.
01:51 So when we get a new visitor in, they're sort of embraced by everybody else in here.
01:58 And they always feel compelled to actually say, "What a great pub, what a great atmosphere
02:02 and what great staff you've got."
02:04 A decisively firm favourite here for the people who make this their regular haunt and the
02:09 strong sense of camaraderie between the pub and patrons has led to a heartfelt commitment
02:15 to support those facing hardships in the local area.
02:19 We support lots of local food bank and Easter eggs at Easter and a pamper hamper scheme
02:26 as well which collects from our customers gift sets and things which go to underprivileged
02:32 families and things and single mums and what have you as well to sort of enjoy their Christmas
02:37 as well.
02:38 The Tamworth Tap epitomises a community triumph, a beacon of collective effort and passion.
02:44 It stands as a testament to what can be accomplished when individuals unite with a shared vision
02:50 for great service, warmth and community spirit.
02:55 It really is just a team effort as well, so supported by Louise as well, my wife, with
03:02 organisation, the team, as I say that enthusiasm, that expertise that they demonstrate, their
03:08 knowledge is phenomenal on the ales and they'll always find the best beer that fits.
03:14 I'll just continue to keep tweaking and making the experience memorable.
