00:00 Let's go to the TeraFlex volleyball fans. Last December BDL Bedaleon and Denden Lazaro-Revilla
00:05 were part of Choco Mucho's Valiant Finals run against the Creamline Cool Smashers in the PVL All-Filipino Conference.
00:12 Now, both BDL and Denden are playing for the very team they tried to beat in time for the new season.
00:20 Joining us for an all-out conversation are the newest members of the Creamline Cool Smashers.
00:25 Joining Team Good Vibes and joining us inside the studio once again, she is back. I just love having her on the show.
00:31 She always drives to the studio. BDL Bedaleon is live. Good evening. Thank you for being here on the show again, BDL.
00:39 Good evening, Andres. Thank you for having me here.
00:41 Thank you. No, it's really great. Last time we talked about your scholarship. I'll ask you about that.
00:45 But your teammate, well, your teammate in Choco and now also teammate in Creamline, who's in Japan,
00:51 she's joining us via Zoom from Osaka in the land of the rising sun. Denden, konnichiwa.
00:57 Konnichiwa.
01:00 Regards to LA. Hi, Denden. Thank you. I wish we could have had you here in the studio, but I know that you're there in Japan.
01:06 Enjoy the rest of your vacation with LA. Great to be talking to you. Congratulations to you and Bea
01:13 starting your new chapter in your careers, joining Creamline.
01:17 Then I'll get back to you. I'll start with Bea, but you can chime in also.
01:23 So both of you, of course, played a very important role for Choco Mucho. You were team captain, BDL.
01:28 You spent, you went 10 and 1 in the elimination round, defeated Signal in the semis.
01:36 Then as I said, you reached the finals, you faced Creamline.
01:40 How special, if we're going to look back first at that run, how special was that run, Bea?
01:44 I think it was even more special because we struggled a lot in the past conferences.
01:51 Well, I've been in Choco Mucho since it started, and so to see everything come together that way
01:56 was really so special to me. And to be with the people who we all struggled with, you know,
02:04 again, we went from 7th place, 4th place, all of it, to finally getting to the finals
02:12 was really, really, really special for us.
02:15 Yeah, and the process was really difficult and I'm sure frustrating at times, but to reach the pinnacle,
02:20 to be there at the finals was just more than rewarding for you girls.
02:23 So finally, here we are. And I always said it, you know, just watch out.
02:28 Choco Mucho will be in the finals one of these days.
02:31 I've been saying this for years, and then they met Creamline in the finals.
02:35 Then, when you played last conference, of course, obviously you and Bea played for Choco Mucho,
02:42 went all the way to the finals. Was there a sense already that that would be your last dance with Choco Mucho?
02:49 No, I didn't have that feeling or thought actually. It was right after the conference
03:00 that my plan to move on from Choco Mucho.
03:04 Okay. Well, as veterans, Bea, of course, team captain, how confident were you guys during that time
03:13 to make it to the finals or at least have a chance against Creamline?
03:18 Because there were parts of that series where I saw, "Wow, they're giving Creamline a run for their money."
03:26 And you girls were playing like a well-oiled machine at times.
03:30 Um, sorry, what's the question?
03:33 How confident were you girls that you could have made it to the finals and at the same time take down Creamline?
03:40 Actually, when the season started, we started off the season losing to Creamline.
03:44 Yes, that was the first game I remember.
03:46 And so, we were always unsure. One game at a time, we got there.
03:50 I remember our first big game, bigger game, was Signal, who always took us out.
03:59 So when we won that, it was great.
04:00 Oh yeah, that was redemption.
04:02 Yeah, yeah. But we had to go against them in the first part of the season.
04:06 I think they were like our third game, maybe, around that.
04:10 And it was one of our first bigger challenges after Creamline.
04:14 And after that game, we said, we didn't know, the feeling, "Is this a joke? Is this really it?"
04:22 Because, you know, we've gone through everything, the ups and downs of being a good team and losing to the same team.
04:28 Exactly, yeah.
04:29 So you never really know. And then we got to, like, we kept winning.
04:34 And then we were like, "Hey, it's going pretty well."
04:37 We can actually go all the way here.
04:39 Yeah, and then we went 10-1.
04:42 Yeah.
04:42 10-1.
04:43 Yeah.
04:44 And then we said, "Maybe it's not a joke anymore."
04:48 So, you know, we took everything at the game at the time and really gave everything every game.
04:53 And we were there. We were finally there.
04:56 And the semis looked shaky again. We lost the first game.
04:59 Yeah.
05:00 Again, to Signal.
05:01 To Signal.
05:01 So, yeah, you know, after the first game, we said, we really told ourselves, you know,
05:07 we didn't come this far, we just come this far.
05:09 Yes.
05:09 We've had the terrific eliminations and we wanted to take it further.
05:15 And it's a good thing it really came together.
05:18 But yeah, really, confidence, in terms of confidence, I wouldn't say you're 100% sure that you're finally going to be there.
05:24 But it was a process that built up throughout the whole season.
05:28 And by the time we got to the semis, honestly, we knew we were ready for the semis.
05:33 From the finals, we said, let's give it our best shot, see where it takes us.
05:37 You know, we were against Scream 9.
05:39 Yeah.
05:40 Been there for so long.
05:41 And so, you know, it was our first time.
05:44 So we wanted to just see where it took us.
05:47 And thankfully, we gave them a good run.
05:49 Of course. Yes, yes, you did. Absolutely.
05:52 Then, if you're going to look back, where do you think your what-ifs, or where you fell short in that,
06:01 particularly in that championship series against Scream 9,
06:04 what were the things that maybe you could have said, we could have done this differently?
06:10 Definitely, game one.
06:15 Game one.
06:15 There was a set where we were already up.
06:19 Up ahead, yeah.
06:20 By a significant amount against Scream 9.
06:24 And we couldn't capitalize on that.
06:27 We couldn't finish that set.
06:28 Para pabor sa'min throughout the game.
06:31 Yeah, yeah.
06:32 That would have been a turning point for us to, I think, win game one.
06:36 I was that confident that we could have, if we won that set, we could have won game one.
06:41 And who knows what would have happened game two if we won game one.
06:43 I was about to say. Exactly. Yeah.
06:45 And it could have been, yeah, it could have been different.
06:48 I get what you're saying, what if that set could have been the turning point.
06:53 And then game one, it would have been different heading into game two
06:56 with a game ahead in the series.
07:00 Bea Chocomucho pretty much started it all for you in the pros.
07:05 You've also shared this journey, of course, with your good friends and your teammates in college,
07:11 Maddie and Kat, Maddie Madayag and Kat Tolentino.
07:15 What's it like to take on, because, you know, it's a business, the pros,
07:21 and you all went to Chocot, right, together.
07:24 And then now you're parting ways, not just with your teammates, but friends.
07:29 You've been teammates for a long time.
07:32 So what's it like now taking this new challenge of,
07:35 although you'll see each other for sure, but it's going to be different.
07:40 Without them, you know, one of the hardest parts of making a decision was
07:47 leaving the people in the team.
07:50 I think we've grown, it was a process as well,
07:55 but I think we've grown to be a family in a sense, obviously, you're with them every day.
08:00 And yeah, honestly, when the season came and towards the end,
08:08 there were so many things that I was weighing out, and it would always be back and forth.
08:13 And the one thing that would always pull me back from saying maybe I don't go,
08:17 was really the people, my friends, my friends in Chocomucho.
08:22 And well, yeah, it's going to be so different going into this without any of them.
08:27 But it was a decision I wanted to do for myself.
08:31 So yeah, I had a whole conversation with Kat and your time about how
08:38 it's going to be so different because she started out playing in the Philippines
08:41 and we were already teammates.
08:43 And we haven't parted ways since for now.
08:46 So it's going to be just so different not seeing each other every day.
08:48 I don't know, it just feels so surreal up to now.
08:52 It makes me sad, of course.
08:55 Mixed emotions, no?
08:57 Yeah, a lot, a lot of mixed emotions.
08:59 But yeah, I'm going to miss them.
09:01 Well, let's continue this conversation.
09:05 We have to take a quick break, but let's wrap up this time with Chocomucho.
09:11 Talk about, of course, focus on the pink.
09:14 I like the sweater you're wearing, the hoodie you're wearing, the jacket you're wearing.
09:18 Team Good Vibes.
09:19 It's pink, cream line, cool smashers.
09:21 And the new additions, Bea De Leon and Denden Lazaro-Revilla will still be with us on the show
09:28 after this quick time out and accessibly here on CNN Philippines.
09:32 And our guests today, Bea De Leon and Denden Lazaro-Revilla of the now cream line cool smashers.
09:37 There's BDL joining us live inside the studio.
09:39 And of course, Denden joining us via Zoom all the way from Osaka in Japan.
09:44 Den, I'll ask you, I know you haven't trained because you're there obviously in Japan,
09:51 but why cream line?
09:53 Why did you choose to play for cream line?
09:58 Oh, simple answer, but then it also can be complicated.
10:07 That's our sister team.
10:11 Cream line, Chocomucho, we're sister teams.
10:14 I know how it looks.
10:17 We're Chocomucho to cream line, and then again, and then long.
10:22 But I really wanted to stay bottom line.
10:25 I really wanted to stay with the Rebisco family.
10:28 And I'm very blessed and very grateful that they allowed me to stay with Rebisco and play
10:36 for cream line.
10:37 Well, as long as you stay within the family, within the Rebisco family, I'm sure the Chocomucho
10:43 fans are like heartbroken with seeing you and Bea gone.
10:48 Two of the veterans of the veterans and the artists of Chocomucho led all the way to the
10:55 finals.
10:56 But you're in cream line team, good vibes.
10:58 Bea has joined practice since you got back from San Francisco, right?
11:03 So how many, three days?
11:04 Three days.
11:05 Since Tuesday, I was practicing.
11:07 How is it so far?
11:08 I'm very, very good, very competitive.
11:11 I love it.
11:12 It's very early.
11:13 I wake up very early now.
11:16 It's my bedtime.
11:17 Sorry, sorry.
11:18 6 to 9, 6 a.m.
11:20 to 9 a.m.
11:20 So how's the adjustment?
11:22 It's early.
11:26 That's all I can say.
11:26 No, yeah, I wake up at like 4.40, 4.30.
11:34 So yeah.
11:34 Apart from that, other than that, it's actually very nice training in the morning.
11:39 It's just the waking up that's hard.
11:41 Yeah.
11:41 But other than that, practice has been good.
11:45 It's the first week.
11:46 So I think Coach Erwin's going a bit light, but not so light.
11:51 Honestly.
11:52 The light on him, not the light.
11:55 But how is it like, of course, you're used to a certain routine.
12:00 Yeah.
12:00 And now getting into a new system with Coach Erwin, obviously a champion coach,
12:06 and then with teammates who've been there, also veterans, champions.
12:10 Was the adjustment part hard, difficult, or challenging?
12:15 Aside from the waking up part, yes, I know.
12:17 Well, I'm really just trying to get a grasp of everything now.
12:20 I'm not fully, I haven't been fully taught the system.
12:25 It's little by little.
12:27 I think we're doing it one by one.
12:29 So with the little parts that I know, I have learned these past few days.
12:35 There are similarities, of course.
12:38 So those are easy to get, obviously.
12:40 And then there's some that takes a while for me to get used to,
12:43 because volleyball is very situational.
12:46 Some things will for sure take time.
12:50 Take time, yeah.
12:51 Yeah, but then hopefully, yeah, we get there.
12:53 It's only a month, though, before the next conference.
12:56 So you feel team good vibes?
12:58 Yes, actually, yeah.
12:59 For people who train from 6 to 9, they're actually very happy.
13:02 Good vibes, really?
13:03 I'll try to visit your practices.
13:07 It's actually fun.
13:08 Really fun and competitive.
13:10 Look at Den Den smiling there.
13:11 I'm sure she's excited for team good vibes.
13:13 See you on Monday.
13:14 Oh, yeah, it's Monday.
13:16 She'll be back.
13:18 Volleyball fans are really, really excited.
13:20 I can't blame them, you know.
13:22 It's like heart-strong Ateneo all over again.
13:25 No, here in Creamline, because of course, you have Alaysia Valdez, Sofina.
13:31 You have Ella De Jesus.
13:32 The Ateneo Lady Eagles team in UAP Season 77 was simply built different.
13:38 Now, to be reunited there, I'll go with Den Den.
13:43 Den, to be reunited, of course, with Lai.
13:46 I'm sure you're pretty, you're really, really excited.
13:52 But can you describe in your own words what you're feeling?
13:56 And then, of course, to be teammates again with Alaysia, with Ella, with me, with Bea.
14:03 With Bea, of course.
14:07 But yeah, after a very long time, me and Bea will be reunited with Lai, Ella, Gia.
14:14 Excited, very happy that we'll be able to be together again on the same side of the court
14:23 this time.
14:24 But at the same time, I'm a little anxious because, of course, we haven't been together
14:33 in training, we haven't been together in court for a few years.
14:39 So a lot has changed during the years that we didn't play together.
14:44 So yeah, just mixed emotions, really.
14:50 But of course, the excitement and happiness are rising.
14:55 Same.
14:57 Yeah, but one of the main reasons I actually went here also was for Atalay.
15:03 She's been a big part of whatever I've achieved thus far.
15:09 And her guidance and just her being her has been, again, a big part.
15:16 And a lot of the things I've learned is from her.
15:19 So just to be back under her wings was one of the bigger reasons.
15:26 And I truly understand that's the Liza Valdez that we're talking about.
15:29 Bea, then this is for both of you.
15:32 Creamline is seeking to retain its titles in the new PBL season with a team.
15:37 Let's get Bea directly.
15:41 I hope there's no limit, right?
15:44 So much.
15:45 Can't stop.
15:46 The type of when you arrive, don't stop, right?
15:49 The hope that it will continue.
15:51 For sure, yeah.
15:53 Creamline is seeking to retain its titles in the new PBL season.
15:56 Of course, they lost Gia, Sed.
15:58 But now, the expectations and the pressures there, how will you be able to fit in and fill in
16:07 the void?
16:09 Now, Gia is gone, Sed is gone.
16:12 And just to come into a championship team and, you know, because it's different.
16:18 It's really different to be joining this team that's already loaded and to keep that championship
16:22 tradition going.
16:23 I'm not really looking into it that way.
16:29 Honestly, for me, at least for me, coming into the pros, I feel like I haven't really
16:36 proven anything in this league.
16:37 So to me, I don't see myself as somebody who's like, wow, like me coming into Creamline.
16:44 More of me coming into here with a lot of room to learn.
16:52 I feel like, you know, I'm lucky again here.
16:54 These are veterans, you know, in Chaco Mucho, I didn't even get to play as much anymore
17:02 in the end.
17:02 So I mean, my expectations to be in a champion team, what more, right?
17:05 So my amount of work that I need to catch up on is a lot.
17:11 But I do like that pressure and I believe I need that pressure, that kind of pressure
17:15 again to push myself and to be in that environment also.
17:19 So really, I'm coming into here to learn from all of them because they're a champion team.
17:23 They're the veterans, not me.
17:25 So really, I just want to take all of it in the system, them, all of what they can teach
17:31 me, how I can grow even more.
17:33 Yeah, so these expectations are very much outside for me.
17:41 I have my own and I believe my teammates are aware of that also.
17:45 So yeah, I'm really excited.
17:47 Hopefully, you know, I catch on really quick.
17:50 Obviously, I do want to see myself in a certain level and I do hope I get to bring that here
17:57 and hopefully be a bonus to meet my expectations and everybody else's expectations.
18:03 It's a plus for me.
18:04 Knowing you since college, I know you will bring it and you have that winning attitude
18:08 in you and I like that sponge mentality.
18:10 Then quickly, Ikaw, same question.
18:16 Just really same with Bea.
18:18 Coming into Creamline, it's not really like, oh, I'm going to be a big impact to the team
18:24 or I need to change something for the team.
18:26 It's not like that.
18:28 Unlike with Choco Mucho, I need to guide the kids.
18:33 Not really me, but then like guide.
18:37 But when it comes to Creamline, they're already established.
18:41 They have that culture already, that winning culture.
18:45 So coming into the team, I don't feel any pressure that I have to do a lot of work.
18:53 It's more of what I do every day in practice and whatever role they give me, I'll give
19:02 my 100% effort in it, whatever they need me to be.
19:06 And it's just really learning, relearning.
19:14 A lot of things, actually.
19:16 Parang ganun naman sa akin now in my career na parang it's not the amount of playing time
19:24 or the amount of wins that matters to me.
19:26 Of course, syempre, malaking bagay na makapag-championship, especially with Creamline.
19:30 Ayaw naman natin maputol yung championship run ng Creamline.
19:34 May balat tayo sa puwede.
19:36 Yung gusto ko for myself is yung matututunan ikaw every day from my teammates and from
19:43 my coaches.
19:44 So ayan, mataas yun ang expectations ko for myself in terms of learning from the team.
19:51 Tama.
19:51 Maganda yan.
19:52 Learning, relearning.
19:53 I like that.
19:53 Well, stay where you are.
19:54 We'll take another quick break.
19:55 But when we return, we'll try to fit in some questions kasi ang dami nagpadala ng mga
19:59 questions from the fans.
20:00 Stay tuned to Sports Desk only here on CNN Philippines.
20:02 We'll be right back with Beda Leon and Denden Lazaro-Revilla.
20:05 Welcome back.
20:05 Thank you for joining us.

20:10 Fans Want to Know.
20:13 Okay, quickly.
20:14 We don't have enough time.
20:15 So one question na lang from, eto well, yung Jerry, eto ba?
20:20 Eto, excited na po ba kayo makatapat ang Chocomucho Flying Titans this coming conference?
20:28 Galing kay Jeyron Karl Ramos.
20:30 He wants to know.
20:31 Denden, sige.
20:34 Yes, excited ako makatapat ang Chocomucho and all the other teams in the PBL.
20:41 Sino pinaka-excited na makamatch mo?
20:43 Yung tipong makaswag o maka ano mo?
20:47 Yung fun fun banter.
20:48 Choco, Choco.
20:50 Ah, si Maddie.
20:52 Si Maddie, si Maddie.
20:53 Okay.
20:54 Natawa si Bea.
20:55 How about you, Bea?
20:56 Sorry, what?
20:57 Are you, how excited are you facing Choco and sino naman yung excited ka makaharap?
21:03 Very excited.
21:06 Honestly, I don't know.
21:07 It's gonna be tough.
21:09 I don't know how it's gonna be the day that it comes, but.
21:12 Sinong gusto mo mablock sa Choco?
21:17 Mablock?
21:18 Kat.
21:20 Si Kat, okay.
21:21 Mga good friends.
